Can you be a champion without winning the championship?

Athletes work hard to become the best. Drills, skill building, exercises, training, etc., are all done to become the best. Athletes do this to be able to hoist the championship at the end of the season.

There are some who consider a season without a championship to be a failure. Some believe a season without getting an end-of-the-year award to be disappointment. Some see a season without a ring to be a waste.

Are these statements true?

  • What about the progress made along the way?
  • What about the improvements and knowledge gained?
  • What about the new skill that was practiced over and over that was used at the right time?
  • What about the lessons learned throughout the season?

What are your thoughts?
