How To Slide Head First

Transcription: Hi, my name is Clint Chalk. I’m a former college baseball player and CoachUp coach — and this is the head first slide. It’s important to learn proper sliding technique to beat the tag and prevent injury. When sliding head first into a base, it’s important to read the position of the fielder to see where he’s going to receive the ball, and you’re gonna slide to the opposite part of the bag. For this example, we’re going to slide to the outside half of the base with our hands in a ball. Our momentum is gonna take us into the bag, the wrist of our hand is going to hit the bag, we’re going to look away from where the throw is coming in from, also to prevent injury, to the inside half of the face.”
