Volleyball Tips: How To Block A Volleyball

Former college volleyball player and CoachUp coach Lok-Tin Yao shows how to block a volleyball. Blocking is a great way to get a quick point and put pressure on the other team.

Lok-Tin Yao: Hi, I’m Lok-Tin Yao, former collegiate volleyball player and CoachUp coach. And this is the block. Good blocking forces opposing players to change their game and is a quick way to score a point. Okay so for blocking, we wanna have our feet parallel to the net. Knees slightly bent so that we’re ready to jump right away. And we wanna bring our arms up about 90 degrees away from our chest. We wanna swing our arms up in the air, extending over the net, so that we keep the ball on the other side.
