More About Coach MaryEllen

12 Years experience as a trainer, and USATF Level II Coach. I have coached high school athletes, college, Open and Master level Athletes. From beginners to All American long jumpers and 110m Hurdlers and Junior Olympic level athletes. Other credentials include Strength and Conditioning Coach, Sports Nutrition Coach, Specialist in Exercise Therapy under ISSA. I’m a former Tier 3 Equinox Trainer and have 40 hours of internship under Sports Chiropractor Dr. Paul M. Salinas, D.C. CCSP, and receives mentorship from doctors of physical therapy.

I graduated Suffolk County Community College in 2013. I competed in their Track & Field program, achieving All American in the 400m Hurdles leaving the school record for the event. Achieving MVP award in 2011 and Coaches Athlete of the year award in 2012 from Suffolk Community College.
2014 I then Competed for City College of New York, where I became CUNY Champ in Women's 100m Hurdles.
2014 I Achieved Athlete of the year award by USATF Long Island.
I currently compete as an open/unattached athlete in the 400m hurdles.

Before the training session I would have spoken to the athlete prior to help give me an idea where the athlete is in their current training and what their goals are. This will help give me an idea for proper planning for the training session. I train short to long sprints and hurdles. Depending on their event, the warmup with be paired with the proper dynamics, drills, and neuromuscular activation. I observe the athlete to understand what further work they may need in their training. After the first training session I will have a good idea on proper programing for the unique individual. Including proper track work, plyos, weightroom work, and recovery work. This is to ensure a successful program for the athlete throughout the season.

I decided to start using Mary Ellen to train my son because I see how knowledgeable she is about track & field and weight lifting.
