More About Coach Mark

Coach Robinson is a passionate, experienced and extensively certified endurance running coach that works with athletes from the middle school to the Masters divisions competing in track and field, cross country and road racing. He coaches distances from the 800 meters to the marathon using current science-based event-specific training both locally and globally.

ELITE COACHING CERTIFICATIONS:
• USA Track & Field (USATF) Levels 1, 2 and 3 Endurance Events
• International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Level V (Academy Coach) Endurance Events
• U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) - Endurance Event Specialist and Track & Field Technical

He has been coaching runners since 2006 and was the head endurance coach of the Central Florida Gliders Track & Field and Cross Country Club from 2007-2016 where he coached numerous athletes to medal at:
* USA Junior National Championships
* USATF and AAU Youth National Championships
* High School State Championships
* Middle School State Championships

One of his biggest accomplishments was helping an inexperienced but talented 6th grade girl go from being one of the top distance runners in her small school district to one of the top 7th graders in the USA in just 14 months (using an age-appropriate workload). Ashley went from running a 5:57 1600m and 2:43 800m in May 2014, to running a 4:38 1500m (~4:58 1600m) and 2:14 800m in July 2015.

Coach Robinson is a current member of the USATF Coaches Registry having successfully passed an extensive USATF background screen and completed the U.S. Center for SafeSport Training course. Prior to coaching endurance running, Coach Robinson was a youth soccer coach for 5 years.

Coach Robinson was an all-around athlete that excelled in track and field, cross country, soccer and volleyball as a youth growing up in England and Jamaica. He was the captain of his high school track & field team. Robinson also competed at the collegiate level in track & field, volleyball and soccer at the University of the West Indies, Jamaica before succumbing to an ACL injury.

Whether local or in another state or country, clients can expect all sessions to be customized to meet their needs as effectively and efficiently as possible using a variety of tools, techniques, drills, workouts and training plans. Needs may range from an athlete's strengths and weaknesses assessment, breathing techniques, and running form, etc., to appropriate race strategy, workout types and sequencing and annual training plans, etc.

The initial session/consult whether in person, by phone or video conference may involve some or all of the following: discussion of goals, needs, prior training and accomplishments; dynamic warm-up routine; drills and/or workouts to assess athlete's endurance, speed, strength, flexibility, agility, balance, coordination, cadence, aerobic capacity and/or running form; analysis of coach or self-captured running form videos; discussion of initial findings and recommendations. Basically, a great consult where you gain valuable information, tips and insights to help you be a better runner, get more out of your training and also assess if Coach Robinson is a good fit. To get the most out of the initial session, athletes are required to complete a client intake form. Clients should also bring a print out of their performances and associated race splits (if applicable and available) from the past 12 months.

All clients, one-time or regular, can expect to take-away critical knowledge to help them get more out of their recreational, school, club or professional workouts and their relationship with their primary coach. Regular clients can expect to receive regularly updated detailed athlete profiles and/or training plans.

Even if you are lucky enough to have an excellent primary coach, it is usually not feasible for him/her to give each of their many athletes individualized attention. As a result, you are more likely to achieve your goals with some complimentary individualized attention from a knowledgeable and experienced CouchUp coach. Sometimes achieving your goal is as simple as changing your race strategy.

Note: Training facilities do not have lights, so after dusk and predawn sessions are conducted with flashlights on the 400m running track and personal headlights, as necessary.

Client Reviews

As this was my first time experiencing coaching online from out of state in VA, I will admit I was a tad skeptical; however, I left that session with a list of improvements and advice I could apply in my races. My first session with Coach Mark was so helpful. He clarified and dove into some nitty-gritty tips and strategies for running the 800m. Whatever question I asked, he went above and beyond in his responses, explaining patiently and with detail. Thank you, Coach Robinson!

It’s very obvious that coach Mark is very passionate with what he does. He showed a genuine interest in helping my daughter and make her very comfortable during our initial online evaluation. We are looking forward to meet coach Mark in person for her running form assessment.

Coach Mark is a great coach. Many session done in a short amount of time. Thank you!

Very helpful and knowledgeable.

Hello! I had my first session with Mark, and it became a beneficial start to my big goal. He came to the session with a plan as I was nervous, unsure of what to expect. I felt comfortable enough to tell him I was nervous. Overall I’m excited to see what happens next.

So far very professional, straight forward and gave awesome tips on the first day of meeting with him. Looking forward to more sessions as we progress with the program. 💯

Coach Mark did a wonderful job analyzing my daughter. He has a vast knowledge on running mechanics. I highly recommend him

The session was great. It was nice to see technology used in parallel with visual expertise, to help define areas to improve and explain the reasoning.

Coach Mark is an awesome guy who will give you a true assessment of your athlete’s current condition.

Thanks Coach Mark!

Amazing! He does an outstanding job with things

Very responsive via phone, text, email, and zoom. Great knowledge base and experience. Taylored workouts and goals week to week. Highly recommended.

I have been going to Mark for about 3-4 weeks I thoroughly enjoy my sessions. In 4 weeks, I already have seen much improvement. Mark is a great coach, very patient, educated, experienced, and personable. He creates a unique training plan designed for you and adjusts it as necessary depending on performance. Running has never been a strength of mine nor do I typically enjoy it. However, I have an important tests coming up that itis vital I pass. I cannot wait to continue to see improvement in my performance. I am positive I would
Not be where I am if it was not for him. Bring 100 percent effort and you will get better. Can’t wait to see what the future holds. If you book with Mark, you will not regret it. Good luck!

We are very pleased with Coach Mark's initial Premium Running Form Assessment of our daughter, who is a high school cross-country runner. He gave great tips during the assessment meetup, and we look forward to working with him to help her improve specific issues in her posture/form and set her pacing more strategically.

Coach Robinson has been great! Very fast response time, has a ton of knowledge and we are already learning a lot. We look forward to continuing the process of getting better under his guidance.

Coach Mark was very knowledgeable and took time to answer all of my questions. He videotaped my running form and then afterwards reviewed it with me and gave me pointers on how to improve. Good session. Looking forward next session.

Coach Mark is extremely knowledgeable and has great insight in long distance running. My daughter has had one session with Coach Mark and is already feeling more confident in her off season preparation for the upcoming cross country season.

Coach Mark was awesome. I'd recommend him and I will work with him again.

On our first meeting, Mark was able to provide insight on the very first day. He seems very knowledgeable and understands the technical aspects of running so can cater his workouts accordingly. Would highly recommend Mark and I will be booking more appointments.

Great coach!

Coach Mark was great during our first session. He was extremely professional and insightful. I saw a glimpse of hope after discussing a plan with him. The knowledge in regards to proper stretching etc made me feel more confident. Since our first meeting he has followed up and provided instruction that is keeping me on track to reach my goal.

I'm a competitive CrossFit athlete looking to improve my biggest weakness, which is running capacity. I'm very impressed by the knowledge of Coach Mark and his ability to take my sport specific goals and apply a successful running strategy to improve my running capacity. He has helped me with running form, breathing, training philosophy and specific workouts that compliment my current training. You can tell he cares a great deal for his athletes and their success. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to improve their fitness and running specific needs!

Coach Mark showed how much experience he has training athletes. He was well prepared and answered all our questions. I feel confident he will help my son improve his running times.

Very knowledgeable and friendly, answered every question with detail.

Great coach! Gave my daughter a lot of information to work on and to process. I will definitely book again.

I just recently meet with Mark for my daughter's first session and found it most informative. His knowledge and understanding of distance running from physical to mental to the actual science behind it was most intriguing. My daughter loved the way he broke stuff down and made it understandable, from graph charts to recommendations on further activities and that was only 1 session. Looking forward to meeting again.

Coach Mark is thorough and explains the science behind the techniques distance runners implement. He is flexible on practice times and makes himself available for any after session questions. He also follows up after races with his clients which is awesome! We have already seen improvement in our short time together and would definitely recommend him to others looking for that one on one personal training to boost performance.

Mark is thorough and really focuses on the little things that can make a big difference.

My daughter had her 1st coaching session with Coach Robinson last weekend. He was very thorough in his evaluation and took the time to really talk and listen to my daughter about her short term and long term goals. Coach Robinson is extremely knowledgable and we left feeling like the session had been time well spent. We look forward to working with Coach Robinson and benefiting from all his knowledge and experience.

Having my child work with Coach Robinson has been very good experience. He is extremely professional, dependable and always on time. He is a strong track Coach and has really helped my daughter improve her running form. She really appreciates working with him and she is already improving a lot. He's very personable, knowledgeable and communicates well with her.

Coach Mark was ready when I showed up! We did a short warm up and discussed goals and current training progress. After that, we did some quick strides and short runs while he took video. After that, I did a 2 mile run for a baseline. Afterwards, we discussed path forward and some tips to work on until we meet again. Definitely recommend.

Coach Mark did a good job.

Coach Mark was an excellent Coach. We had eight sessions with him and he created personalized workouts to help my boyfriend reach his goals. My boyfriend has a smart watch and he was able to integrate the watch data into his workout plans. I would highly recommend Coach Mark. In fact, we will be working with him again for our next event. Thank you for your dedication to your clients!

Our first meeting with Coach Robinson was great. He gave my son some great tips to implement immediately and he is looking forward to his upcoming sessions.

Coach Robinson is what the dictionary would define as an amazing coach. He always has the answer to any question and is very knowledgeable on various topics related to running. He promotes hard work and tries to focus athletes on giving 110% during practice so that a race is the fun, easy part of the training. Coach Robinson takes into account the abilities of each athlete and helps to determine the best route for enjoyment and success with the sport. Coach Robinson provides you with an honest account of positive feedback on what you did well on and how you can improve. Coach Robinson is the greatest coach there is and if you get the chance to learn from him, you wouldn't want to miss that opportunity!
I met Mark in 2010 or 2011 when our teenage boys were competing as youth runners but it wasn’t until the spring of 2015 that my daughter joined his track team. My daughter was new to running and from day 1 Mark made her feel comfortable. Coaching a team of boys and girls ranging from ages 8-18 can be challenging but Mark always had a plan for each individual runner. Mark’s carefully thought out practices helped maximize each runner’s ability. Mark was constantly preaching proper running technique and habits to his runners. Practices always had a purpose and rarely was a minute wasted. When it came time for our meets, Mark was always available to recommend which events each runner should run in. During the meets, Mark was there to offer encouragement and positive coaching. It was clear to me why so many runners have flourished under Mark’s tutelage.
I have known Coach Robinson for the last four years as he coached my children from Elementary school through to High School. I myself am a qualified coach and Sport Scientist and I have worked with many coaches in the UK and here in the US. I can confidently say that Coach Robinson is one of the best coaches that I have come across and have always been impressed with his professionalism, planning, organisational and coaching skills. I have seen him develop athletes to State and National levels including my own children.
Coach Robinson coached me during my 10th grade track season and he is without doubt the most knowledgeable coach I have ever run under. He was always able to answer my questions and keep me confident. He would always stay in touch with me to see how I was feeling and how I felt I was doing. His training schedule is easy to understand and helps you peak at the perfect time! He also taught me the importance of easy/recovery runs, because even the slow and easy days are just as essential as the other days.
