More About Coach Bray
I am an experienced Physical Educator and coach with over 23 years working in student-centered education and athlete development at both the elementary and high school levels. My coaching background includes 10 years of high school football experience, with six years at the varsity level as a Quarterback Coach and Offensive Coordinator.
I have served as a Varsity Head Football Coach for three years at John F. Kennedy High School (Fremont, CA) and as a JV Head Football Coach for three years at Heritage High School (Brentwood, CA). I am currently the Assistant Head Football Coach at Heritage High School, where I also work as a Study Hall Teacher, supporting academic monitoring, eligibility, goal-setting, and recruiting support for student-athletes.
In addition to high school football, I have coached youth sports as an assistant coach with the Fremont Football League and most recently in baseball with Pony Baseball (Brentwood, CA) and East County Little League (Oakley, CA).
My coaching philosophy is built around inside-out development—focusing on leadership, confidence, preparation, and accountability before performance. I emphasize disciplined routines, football IQ, and communication while supporting athletes academically and helping them navigate postsecondary opportunities. My goal is to help athletes grow as confident competitors, strong teammates, and responsible young adults.
I am a former three-sport varsity athlete at John F. Kennedy High School in Fremont, CA, where he excelled as a Wide Receiver/Free Safety in football, Shortstop in baseball, and Point Guard in basketball. During his high school career, he developed strong leadership, discipline, and competitive skills under the mentorship of California Coaches Association Hall of Fame inductee Coach Pete Michaletos as well as Coach John Webb, forging relationships that helped shape his teaching and coaching philosophy as well as my approach to athlete development.
Following high school, he continued his baseball career at Ohlone College in Fremont, CA, playing Shortstop for the fall season under Coach Paul Moore, further honing his skills, teamwork, and understanding of high-level competition. His multi-sport background instilled a deep appreciation for athletic versatility, preparation, and the inside-out development of student-athletes—principles he carries into his coaching today.

-Kyle M. Heritage High QB c/o2027 (Testimonial)
Coach Roman has been my coach for almost 3 years now, and I appreciate every second of it. He helped me refine my craft with confidence. We work through the footwork, technique, and mindset of a quarterback. And during our time together in the weight room, he is always pushing us to our limits, but at the same time giving us ample rest to maximize efficiency. I have seen massive success with his training in myself and others. Coach Roman is also very active in the recruiting process. He constantly encourages us players to put ourselves out there and give ourselves the best chance possible at playing at the next level. He will go out of his way to promote his players on his personal account to show off our talents to coaches around the country. Coach Roman has been a key figure in my life; he took me in my freshman year and has helped shaped me into the man I am today. He has helped me through tough times on and off the field. You can always look to him for help, support, or advice. He is an inspiration to all.
-Ekjot Singh Modhara John F. Kennedy High School-Alumni Class of 2022 (Testimonial)
I had the privilege of being coached by Coach Bray Roman during my sophomore, junior, and senior years of high school football, and he was one of the most influential mentors I had during that time. I played JV football my sophomore year and varsity my junior and senior years, and throughout all three seasons Coach Roman consistently pushed me to grow both as a player and as a person. Coach Roman challenged us physically and mentally through demanding summer conditioning sessions and intense practices, always pushing us to reach our limits. While he expected a lot from us, he genuinely cared for his players, peers, and staff, and he constantly worked to build a true family environment within our team. His leadership created a culture of accountability, trust, and brotherhood that made playing for him a truly meaningful experience. During the first half of my senior year, our team did not have a center. Coach Roman gave me the opportunity to step into the starting center role and showed complete confidence in me from the beginning. That trust meant a great deal to me and helped me grow tremendously, both on and off the field. His belief in his players and willingness to give us opportunities to rise to challenges is something Iwill always appreciate. Beyond football, Coach Roman was also an exceptional and well respected teacher at Kennedy High School and was honored as Teacher of the Year, which speaks volumes about his dedication to education and his students. He has since continued his career in education and high school football coaching in Brentwood, where I am confident he continues to make a positive impact. Coach Bray Roman is one of the most important mentors I had in high school, and I owe him a great deal of credit for shaping who I am today. I am extremely grateful for the lessons he taught me, the opportunities he gave me, and the belief he had in me throughout my high school football career.
— Coach Muhammad, Founder of Tackling University (Testimonial)
I’m very intentional about who I align with and who I trust to help develop athletes and guide families, and Coach Bray exemplifies that standard. He is far more than a quarterback trainer, his QB instruction is high-level and detailed, but what truly separates him is his elite coaching across all phases of the game. He understands how mechanics, decision-making, leadership, situational awareness, and football IQ all connect, preparing athletes not just to perform, but to think and operate at the next level. Equally important is his deep and practical understanding of the recruiting process. Coach Bray brings clarity to a space that often confuses parents and athletes, helping families understand what recruiting actually requires, how to prepare properly, and how to move with intention instead of guesswork. Coach Bray can help families navigate the football journey, elevate performance, and prepare for real opportunity.
Julian Njelita ℅ 2026 (Testimonial)
Coach Roman is an incredible football coach who is extremely dedicated to the improvement of all his players. During the offseason, he guides his players through the recruiting process, and uses his connections to give players opportunities they wouldn’t have otherwise. During the season, he is a high energy, “never quit” type of coach. He offers players many chances outside of team practice to improve their skills, and pushes everyone to give 100% effort during practice. Coach Roman was vital in my own recruiting process, believing in me and encouraging me every step of the way. Without him, I may have never realized my own potential.
Calvin Miller-Claremont-McKenna RB/LB (Testimonial)
Coach Roman coached me throughout high school and brought an unmatched fire and passion for the game. Under his guidance, I developed my skills to the point of earning an opportunity to compete at the collegiate level. His knowledge of the sport is extensive, but what truly sets him apart is how personally invested he is in his athletes. He pushes you to succeed as if your goals were his own.
Nathaniel M. c/o 2027 (Testimonial)
Over the past two years, I have been blessed with the opportunity to play for Coach Roman, in many ways he has helped me not just on the field and in the classroom, but outside of school as well, ultimately shaping me into the young man I am today. Between dedicating hours of his life coaching from the months of May to early November, he does it with such passion that gives not only myself, but my teammates a will and desire to be better. Coach Roman is always there with a smile on his face, which immediately uplifts the mood from the get-go. The team and I greatly appreciate the work he does, not only as a coach throughout the season, but for the offseason work he puts into our program. His effort is unmatched and he’s truly a great man to play for. With the recruitment aspect of his job, he has helped me greatly between getting myself and others on track through X set up to even emailing coaches for us in his free time. For me personally, he introduced me to hundreds of universities I have never heard of before and gave me coaches emails so that I could reach out. He works diligently in his free time to better the lives of his players and gives us the push to do more and help realize our fullest potential. For that, I am forever grateful. As our quarterback coach, although I play linebacker, the work and preparation he puts in behind the scenes is amazing. Weekly, he’ll have daily meetings with our multiple quarterbacks to help better them mentally for opponents we may be facing and overall improve their football IQ. In the mornings, he will host morning workouts where the work is real. Between weights and sprints along with agility, the training and preparation he provides for us only makes us better. Throughout the last two years I’ve come to realize that he has the fullest comprehension of football knowledge out of everyone I know, and that it is a wonderful thing that he’s a part of our program. I am forever grateful for you, Coach Roman.
Justin A. c/o2026 (Testimonial)
I am extremely grateful for my high school football quarterback Coach Bray Roman and everything he has done to help me grow as both a player and a person. From the beginning, it was clear that he genuinely cares about his athletes and is invested in our success on and off the field. He takes this mindset with him everywhere he goes, no matter the coaching position he is in. His desire to win, the way he coaches, and the time he puts into his players is something I really admire. No matter what the scoreboard says, Coach Roman is always humble and continues to push his players beyond what they think they are capable of. He takes the time to teach fundamentals the right way, focusing on footwork, mechanics, decision-making, and leadership. His coaching goes far beyond just running drills. He pushes us to improve daily while keeping practices positive, encouraging, and competitive. That balance has helped me stay motivated and confident while continuing to develop my skills. Coach Roman’s care and concern for his athletes goes beyond the football field. His leadership as a man sets an example for everyone around him. Because of his coaching, I’ve gained confidence, improved my performance, and learned how to prepare and compete at a higher level. He has also been a great mentor, helping me understand what it takes to succeed as a student-athlete and how to approach the recruiting process with the right mindset. I would highly recommend him to any athlete looking to develop both on and off the field. Anyone who works with him will be getting a coach who genuinely cares, holds athletes to ambitious standards, and helps them reach their full potential.
