More About Coach William
I was the head boys and girls track and field coach at Ambridge High School in Pennsylvania for many years. I coached all field events, but my specialty is the javelin event.
In retirement, I purchased a vacation home in The Villages, Florida. When the Florida High School Association lifted the ban on the javelin event in 2020, I volunteered to coach the javelin at The Villages Charter High School for four years and, afterwards, two years at Wildwood Middle High School.
In 2022, I coached three high school girls to the State meet where they finished 2nd, 5th, and 16th out of 18 throwers. In 2023, three girls qualified for the State Meet and finished #1 (43.04 m), #15 (29.95 m), and #16 (29.24m). One boy qualified ranking a personal best 16th out of 18 throwers. He placed 6th place with a 50.67 meter throw.
In my senior year at Eastern Michigan University, I won the 1970 NCAA Division II Javelin Champion with a throw of 238 feet/72.54 meters. I am a two time NCAA All American in the javelin event.
Virtual Coach:
Step 1 - Athlete sends me a video of his/her best competition javelin throw.
Step 2 - I review and send a technique analysis.
Step 3 - Athlete does prescribed ‘homework’ sessions followed by sending me a practice and/or competition video.
Step 4 - Repeat Steps 1, 2, and 3 until the athlete is satisfied with their progress.
I do not need to meet in person since the slow motion analysis is the key to identifying faults and fixes, but if possible, I would enjoy seeing athletes throw in person.

Client Reviews
Kendrick (CoachUp client)
Coach Kouvolo is the man! Coach exhibits great knowledge of the javelin and breaks down the technical aspects of the event that translates into instant improvement. His wisdom and deep involvement with the sport as a former head coach and collegiate athlete shows through the thorough teaching and instruction he gives. Coach is definitely worth the investment to become a high level technician with the javelin.
