For over a decade, my journey as a track and field coach has been incredibly rewarding. Guiding athletes, from beginners to state qualifiers, has been a privilege. My coaching philosophy is rooted in a scientific-based approach, focusing on mastering fundamentals. I dedicate significant time to refining technique and efficiency, believing that a strong foundation is essential for progress.

Progression is another cornerstone of my philosophy. I tailor plans to each athlete’s needs, challenging them to reach their potential gradually and safely. Whether through strength training, drills, or improving an athletes self-belief, I aim to facilitate continuous improvement.

Lifelong learning is critical to my coaching. With a Level 1 USATF coaching certification, I constantly seek to enhance my knowledge. Attending clinics, reading extensively, and engaging with fellow coaches help me serve my athletes better.

Coaching extends beyond the track. Track and field is a powerful metaphor for life, teaching hard work, discipline, and perseverance. These lessons help athletes excel in all areas of life. Competing at prestigious events like the Oregon Relays and Penn Relays has been particularly gratifying, providing athletes with invaluable experiences and inspiration.

In essence, my coaching journey is about helping athletes realize their full potential through a science-based, fundamentally sound approach.

High School Track and Field, Basketball, and Football

A training session with me will be focused on helping you achieve your goals and reach your full potential. I will work with you to identify your specific needs and design a training plan that is tailored to your individual needs.

The first part of our session will be a dynamic warm-up. This is an important step in preparing your body for the training session. The warm-up will focus on activating the major muscle groups, increasing blood flow and preparing your body for the main session.

Next, we will go through low-level specific drills for your event or sport. These drills will help you master the fundamentals and prepare you for the main session. The drills will be designed to help you develop the skills and techniques needed to perform at your best.

The main session will vary greatly depending on your needs. For sprinters, we will focus on acceleration/starts and max velocity mechanics. We will also work on race planning and strategies to help you perform at your best on race day. For distance runners, we will focus on repeat training to develop pacing and good running mechanics.

For ball sports athletes, we will focus on more involved agility drills. These drills will help you develop the agility and quickness needed to perform well in your sport. We will also work on ball handling and passing skills as well as other specific skills needed for your sport.

Throughout the main session, we will time and record your performance so that we can track your progression over time. Video analysis can also be provided to help you see and understand your technique and make adjustments as needed.

After the main session, we will do light strength training, core and mobility work if applicable for the athlete. These exercises will help you build strength and stability, which will help you perform better in your sport. The exercises will be tailored to your specific needs and goals.

In summary, a training session with me will be focused on helping you achieve your goals and reach your full potential. The session will include a dynamic warm-up, low-level specific drills, a main session tailored to your needs, and light strength training, core and mobility work. Great coach who is able to identify weaknesses in sprinting form and how to improve them. Also was able to identify when a training plan wasn't working and amend it. Through his training I was able to correct my form for sprinting since my own training methods wasn't working and then pass the FBI fitness test.

Coach Vinnie has been working with my young athlete and has proven to be patient and good with kids of such a young age which is a skill in itself. He knows how to push an athlete but not be too demanding for there skill and experience level.
