More About Coach Vince

I have been coaching track and field at the high school level for over 8 years. Currently, I'm a certified personal trainer at a gym named Domination Fitness. I have coached state competitors from Lincoln and Southridge high schools. My certifications are; NASM Certified Personal Trainer, USATF Coach, NFHS Coaching Certification. I love to work with anyone in any age group looking to improve their performance.

I competed at the collegiate level at Portland State University as a decathlete. My freshman year in college I became a Junior All-American in the decathlon finishing 7th at nationals. I finished at Portland State with a school record in the indoor pentathlon in 2011. I was All-Big Sky conference in the decathlon in 2010 and 2011. My Sophomore season I earned teams most improved.

Each one of my sessions will vary depending on the event we are working on. Typically i start practice with running or a light skipping followed by dynamic stretching and/or static stretching. After this we would do various sprint drills. After this I sometimes use hurdles to complete the warm-up to work on flexibility. When the warm-up is finished we would work on technique for about 45 minutes. After technique, depending on the day, we would do plyometrics, general strength exercises, or medicine ball exercises. I also think that athletes need resistance or weight training to increase muscle strength and explosiveness. I would finish with weight training and a cooldown with static stretching.

I attended the coaching session for my son. Coach Vince paid lots of attention to warm ups and making sure my son was ready to work out. Then they started into a skills session and it went great. Skills and technique are the goals right now. Coach did a great job and was attentive to the areas needing improvements.

Coach VInce has been a great coach. He comes to every session with a plan and has taught my son many new stretches, exercises, warm-ups for his events. Every time we're there, we see great improvement in our son's form and abilities. Coach Vince also comes to every practice with an obvious love of coaching, lots of encouragement, and a great disposition. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone.

Coach Vince has taught our kids more technique skills in two training sessions than they had been taught in the previous three years by other coaches. We appreciate Vince’s attention to detail and making sure that the kids are practicing skills correctly. He makes learning fun while still challenging the kids to constantly improve. We look forward to more training sessions with Vince.

My son spent 3 sessions with Vince, primarily working on the javelin, and it was well worth it for him. He now has a much better grasp on some of the finer points of throwing a javelin and is eager to apply what he learned this week in his first meet.

Coach Vince has exceeded my expectations! He is very knowledgeable and communicates well. My daughter is looking forward to the start of track season. I truly believe with his help this year she will accomplish her goals. Thank you Vince

Found Vince for my 7th grader. Excellent demeanor and my son really enjoyed working with him - very knowledgeable given his collegiate experience . Would highly recommend and will definitely keep using Vince to prepare for the upcoming track season.

My 15-year-old daughter had one-on-one training for hurdles with Coach Vince. He was thorough and encouraging, and he really emphasized the need for warming up and stretching. His background as a decathelete and a high school coach was evident. Most importantly, my daughter responded well to his coaching style.

The first thing my son told me after the training was "dad, I learned a lot today." I was really encouraged by his attitude and the result of the training. We are signing up for more sessions. Thank you Coach Vince!

Thank you for an amazing season and thank you for taking your time to coach me! You do so much for me and it showed in my marks! I can't wait to start training again for next season and I hope I can train by throwing over the summer with you. You're really an amazing coach and I just wanted to thank you so much again for everything!
