More About Coach Tom

I have coached at the high school level in soccer and I have worked at the local YMCA as a coach and trainer. At the YMCA, I taught "Military Calisthenics" and also coached a group through the "Couch-To-5K" program. I also coached a "Couch-To-5K" class independently after being asked for my assistance by former students. I typically work with the "over 30" age group, but have experience working with high school and middle school age students as well. I am certified as a personal trainer through the NASM and also further training as a Performance Enhancement Specialist, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Youth Exercise Specialist, and Golf Fitness Specialist. I maintain current CPR/AED certification as well as First Aid.

While serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Army, I had numerous opportunities to train myself as well as the soldiers and Marines in my unit. I coached the Physical Conditioning Platoon for a time. This was focused on recovery for injured soldiers and weight loss/performance improvement for soldiers that were sub-standard performers. I also worked as Shift Leader at one of the fitness facilities on Fort Drum, NY for 3 years. During that time I had soldiers working for me that were being out processed of the Army for medical issues. I was able to help some of these heroes to work on physical fitness by adapting exercises to work around their injury.

First of all, each client will receive an assessment before beginning training. Each session will begin with a thorough warm up and end with a cool down and stretching. The specific drills will be dependent upon the client goals and current state of fitness. Strength, flexibility, balance, and cardiovascular fitness will play a part in each session.

Trainer Tom has helped me a lot in making sure I get everything from every exercise. I came to him already with a plan of my own but what I asked for was guidance and feedback. He explains every exercise in detail to make sure I'm working out to my best potential and since I started training with him I've been lifting heavier while maintaining a good form. I feel safe when going for heavy weights when training with him and he always provides great feedback after every set.
I began working with Tom in April of 2015 and I found almost immediately that working with Tom had not only changed my body to make it more toned, but I also found a change in my lab work that I was doing bi-annually!
