More About Coach Timothy

I am currently a full time sales professional, and former part-time MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) Men's Cross Country and Track Volunteer Assistant Coach (October 2012- May 2014). I am always attempting to master the work/run/life balance as I am a runner with a full-time job. I am interested in working with runners of all levels, and most recently I have worked with collegiate all-region, all-New England, and All-American caliber of distance runners. I draw from personal training experiences for my distance running methodologies and strength and core training, from the program I followed while a collegiate student athlete and also most recently professional coaches Mario Fraioli and Greg McMillan who have coached me for multiple marathons. Currently pursuing USATF certification.

I was also the coach to the Alzheimers Association Team for the 2014 Run to Remember Race - Half Marathon and 5 miler runners.

PR's to Date - 800m: (2:00), Mile: (4:24), 5k: (15:16-track, 15:40-road), 8k: (25:40), 10K: (31:32-cross country course, 32:14 road), Half Marathon: (1:11:21), 20k: (1:09:45), 30k: (1:49:05), Marathon: (2:32:54)

My Running Experience includes: 8 seasons of Varsity High School running (2-Cross Country, 3-Indoor Track, 3-Outdoor Track) at Haverhill High School-Haverhill, MA, 4 years of Varsity Collegiate Level Running-NCAA Division II Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track (12 collegiate seasons total combined) at Stonehill College- Easton, MA, 2x NCAA Cross Country Division II National Championship Team Qualifier Member, New England and NE-10 Conference Championship Member and Scoring Runner, 15+ Years (to Date) of Post-Collegiate USATF New England Running, 100+ road races completed ranging from 5k to marathon, 2017 Chicago Marathon Automatic American Development Program Qualifier and Finisher, 4x Boston Marathon Time Qualifier and Finisher- Best time: 2:35:59 (2011, 2012, 2015, 2019), 2010 Baystate Marathon (Lowell, MA) Finisher, 2013 NYC Marathon Sub-Elite Time Qualifier and Top 100 Overall Finisher, 15x Falmouth Road Race Finisher- 2008-present; Best Finish - 37:59, 37th place (2013), and multiple area post-collegiate road race victories from 2007-present (with a few course records still standing)

Sessions are dependent upon client background, conditioning level, age, experience, schedule & availability, and time frame until their goal race (if one does exist). I am flexible to all skill levels, and goals ! Shoot me a note to get started and to get a feel for a program I typically offer - no "sample" program is posted on my profile because each individual, training timeframe, personal schedule, race distance, training goals, athletic & injury history, as well as body type is individually unique !

Client Reviews

Tim knows what is doing, I noticed a clear improvement in my strength and running performance. Communication is mostly via text/excell schedules, which I found a bit complicated given my personal, complex, life, but there is no doubt about his coaching skills and experience.

Very knowledgeable! Thank you, Tim!

Super knowledgeable. Tim is the real deal!!

When I was first seeking a coach, I received many outreaches from coaches in my area and many reached out to me. At the time, I was struggling with making the commitment to a training program because my parent was going through a difficult health issue and I wasn't sure my time would be my own enough to commit. As all the other initial coaches faded into the background, it was only Coach Timothy who kept reaching out and checking in with me, week after week, to see if I was ready. When my parent's health issue finally settled, the choice of a coach was easy: the one who had stuck with me before I even started! Coach Timothy stuck with me the whole training period and I was very pleased with my race results as a result. I have never felt so confident and strong in a race before and I believe it was because of the program Coach Timothy pulled together for me.

I am working with Coach Tim to train for my first half marathon. As someone with no previous running experience, Tim has been instrumental in my progress, health, and most importantly, enjoyment of the process. Right now I am only using his coaching service virtually. Each week, he provides me a training plan for the upcoming days and we communicate regularly via text and calls. He is great at answering questions, giving advice, and encouraging me when I am intimidated by my increasing mileage. I already know the race will be a success because of him!

Finn had a great session with coach Bryan. Just a few adjustments made a huge difference! Can't wait for next session.

I've began my training session with Tim back in March to train for a half marathon in June and I have enjoyed every minute of it. From the moment you start with Tim, he will review your current run history and put together a plan for successfully achieving your overall running goal. Tim's expertise and love of the sport of running will be apparent the moment you meet him; during our runs together his real-time feedback and tips have made me a much better runner.

I booked sessions with Timothy to increase my endurance as a long distance runner and already I feel so much stronger. During the few sessions that I have had, Timothy is always enthusiastic and when I'm running, I feel fitter and much more capable of running long distances. He knows the right workouts for me and he is always engaged. Definitely recommend.

We are not experienced runners. In fact, one of us is recovering from a broken ankle. With Coach Tim's guidance, we are well on our way to a successful half marathon. His workouts are challenging and really push us to our limits. He provides thoughtful feedback and advice regarding nutrition, race day prep, gear and injury prevention. He is extremely responsive and reliable. We've seen real gains and progress since we started working with him six weeks ago. - Liz & Jen

Tim is a great coach. With only one class with him, we already feel that we are a better runner. He gave us very detailed instruction on what to watch for and what to improve. We are very appreciative that he is helping us and look forward to the next session very much.

This is an updated review for Coach Tim. My daughter started coaching with Tim since October 2016, on most of the weekends. She just finished a run with Tim on New Years Eve. With Tim guiding her, my daughter felt so inspired to run well to her personal ability. It was a great way to end the year. I have noticed a mental growth on my daughter's running after she trained with Tim, that is critical for a runner. The physical part will take some time to build up as my daughter is only 11. Tim is a very detailed, disciplined and methodical coach. He wrote feedback to us every time after the training, which I find very insightful. I trust what he teaches my daughter will help her in the long run to become an true athlete runner.

Thank you so much, Tim.

Tim is awesome! He is a well of information and is truly wonderful to work with. He pushes my boundaries of what I think I'm capable of and provides great tips for running efficiently. I'm confident that with Tim's guidance, I'll reach my running goals and become a better athlete!

Coach Timothy always made me feel encouraged and motivated to work hard. His helpful advice made running long distances much more manageable to me.

It's been fantastic training with Tim so far! Tim and I are working towards getting myself ready for a marathon and setting a new PR. There's no doubt that Tim has extensive running knowledge and experience. But what sets him apart from others coaches I've worked with in the past is that Tim is very easy to work, accessible for questions/concerns, very encouraging and optimistic, and generous with his time, guidance, and feedback. Having a busy schedule myself, Tim does a great job building a training schedule that I can manage yet trust to be effective. Our training sessions have always been both challenging and enjoyable, and I look forward to continue working with him. I highly recommend Tim to anyone who's looking for a coach!

I had my first training with Tim, and also first personal training experience. Before the first meeting we already had contact several times via email, Tim asked me information about my background so he would have a better idea of my starting point and the training approach. This gave me a good feeling from the start that I would be working with someone who invests time in getting to know his coachee.

During our first training we started with a mixed training, Tim suggested to start with an interval training to focus on improving my running speed and this also give him the opportunity to see my running technique at a different pace. In the beginning it felt a little bit uncomfortable because I had the feeling I was totally out of shape (even though I have been running three times a week for the last year), but Time gave me useful feedback and coached me through by encouraging me during the phases I was having a hard time keeping up my speed. It was a great experience, and I experienced that running 10 miles or longer at one pace is a completely other game then working on your speed. Really looking forward to the upcoming months on improving my speed and building further on my longer distance runs.

Running with Tim has been a great addition to my training. He has introduced me to new workouts that have challenged me and pushed me to perform better. He is also very mindful to remind me about keeping a balanced workout regime that includes strength training and stretching, not just to increase performance, but perhaps more importantly to prevent injuries. Having run several half marathons, I decided to try coach Tim for my first full marathon training. Running with Tim has really helped me to taking my running training to the next level. I would recommend him to anyone looking to improve skills or reach a race goal.

Tim's the man. I started running with Tim about 6 weeks before I had a marathon lined up, and while he won't say so, he was definitely concerned we only had 6 sessions together before the race. I can definitely say he made me run and train like I've never trained before, and was a huge factor in me PR'ing a tough race. He doesn't just run with you for an hour and that's that - his approach is comprehensive and gives you a really solid foundation and plan for whatever goal you're trying to hit. Plus, Tim is a great dude and awesome to talk to before, after, and during running. Legit distance running is no joke, so get serious and start training with Tim.

Tim is an excellent coach. I'm a new runner, and not in terribly great shape. Being a Bostonian, running is a huge part of the culture and I've never felt like I could get in the game. I thought a coach could be a helpful way to get started. My goal is to be able to do a 10k in a relatively short time frame. Tim has the experience and demeanor to get someone like me into shape. Running for him isn't just about the sport, it's about what you do while you're not running as well, and his approach is holistic. I started by signing up for only one session with him, but I'm going to pull the trigger on doing something more regularly. I highly recommend him to people regardless of skill level.

Tim is just a straight up awesome coach and motivator. I'm really grateful for what I've accomplished with him so far and look forward to more sessions as I prepare for an upcoming marathon. When I first signed up, I wasn't sure what to expect because there's a ton of material out there about running but after working with Tim over the past few weeks, I've definitely noticed a significant improvement and have gained a lot more confidence during my longer runs. Even outside of sessions, he's just a bank of knowledge about running and has gone above and beyond - keeping in contact throughout the week, giving me cross training and nutrition advice, and forming a day by day marathon training plan. Whenever we go out for a run, he runs only a couple steps ahead, pushing the pace so that I have to fight to maintain my speed and meticulously checking every detail about my running form and giving me advice on what to focus on. It's an awesome feeling once I finish one of the workouts. I highly recommend Tim for anyone looking to run their best. He's incredibly friendly and approachable and continues to push me to become a better runner each day.

For my second marathon training, I came across Tim's profile on coach up, and knowing that's he's a top 10 distance runner in Massachusetts, booking this appointment was a no-brainer. Sure enough Tim is a world of knowledge in this sport and he is extremely detail oriented in terms of finding out the type of runner you are, what your tendencies are and so forth, and provides endless suggestions on how you can improve as a runner. Before our session, I received tremendous amount of information helping me improve via e-mail and phone as well. During our seven mile run first session (~7:30/mi) Tim not only gave me a very detailed lecture on the chemistry of running, how you should purpose your workouts, nutrition and his own experiences, but he paid special attention to my technique and form. As a follow up he plans to continue to study me as a runner on the track and make the proper adjustments. To top it off, Tim is remarkably friendly and motivated as a coach. I am a 1:38 half marathon runner and I have no doubt that Tim will be a valuable resource and motivation for runners of any experience!
