More About Coach Spencer

I have been coaching Triathlon but 95% running since 2008. I have trained close to a thousand runners in that time. As a POSE Method certified trainer, I provide what is missing in most coaching methodology, hands on instruction in the exact movement that gives the best running results. I have trained competitive track and field athletes, and people who are new to running. I also have experience with all ages of runners but do not work with kids below the age of 8.

Client Reviews

I've been running only for 1.5 years, and already injured myself. Spencer taught me the POSE method, how to run correctly, which also helps me avoid injuries in the future. First he took a video how I was running before the training, then showed me a couple of drills what should I fix and do differently. They were extremely useful, easy to understand, and adapt. At the end of the session he took another video, then analyzed them, and explained what I’m doing better now, also what still needs a little improvement. This session was extremely helpful for me. I would recommend Coach Spencer to anyone!

Took my 10yo son to Coach Spencer to improve my son's running. My boy is a basketballer with mad skills but a half step slow against his multi-sport peers. Coach Spencer quickly identified a couple of issues and patiently worked thru a series of drills to correct the mechanics. We then reviewed before/after video (shot on the spot by Coach Spencer), frame by frame, that clearly showed immediate improvement. And what did my son do when we got home? Excitedly showed Mom his new form! I will definitely be recommending Coach Spencer to others.

Coach Spencer is a terrific coach! He's very kind, patient, knowledgeable and thorough!!! I definitely recommend him for anyone needing any level of assistance with running!!!

Very knowledgable and thorough. Excellent follow up. Highly recommend spencer!

Coach Spencer is truly passionate about helping people learn to run, and that shows in his coaching. He also uses all kinds of techniques and approaches to facilitate learning -- discussion about psychology of running, demonstrations, physical feedback and kinesthetic training, and video review. Excellent session, totally worth it!

I took the Level 1 clinic and it was eye opening. I soon realized how effortless running needs to be. Coach Spencer was great and at the end of the clinic I quickly signed up for the Level 2 clinic!

You l cannot go wrong with Coach Spencer and here's why:

1) He knows his stuff – I did a little research on the POSE Method before selecting a coach. Coach Spencer knew the who, what, where, when, how and why of the POSE Method. He could clearly articulate how to execute and develop the method while transitions from my old running style and how to reduce the risk of reverting back. What’s more, on day one we discussed whether the method was appropriate for me so that if it wasn't we could come up with alternatives to help me meet my running goals.

2) Compassionate and Constructive – I never felt like I was being beat up on during the sessions but at the same time I was not allowed to be a slacker either. Coach Spencer had the right balance of when to back off and when to push you to work harder in during both sessions.

3) Experience – His resume says it all. He is not telling you something he read or heard. He took me through several scenarios and factors to consider when running (shoes, hills, practice equipment, approahes based on frequency of my running, cross training, etc.,) And he obviously practices what he preaches. Look at his personal results!

Coach Spencer has made me excited about not only running but losing weight and competing in the very near future. Again, you absolutely can’t go wrong with Coach Spencer! I look forward to more sessions with him soon.

I haven't run in years due to overuse injuries and attended the session out of curiosity. It gave me the confidence I needed to start training again. As a coach, you were able to train different skill levels with ease. I would recommend your coaching session to anyone!
Spencer is an excellent coach. He taught the basics of POSE method and shot a few videos of how we ran on the track. The videos were very helpful to see what issues I had and how I can fix them. Now I need to take my time to change my running form and use all the lessons learned. I am planning to do a level 2 training with him after a few weeks of practicing my level 1 lessons.
I've been running a long time and wanted to improve the quality of my runs, i.e., not feel so beat up after a long one. Spencer explained the POSE technique and then used very effective hands-on drills and demonstrations/exercises to ingrain the technique in muscle memory and with mental imagery so that we could use it from that point forward. He also used before-and-after videos to further show us how we had improved and how we could do even better. You will be using new muscles in the implementation of this technique (you might be a little sore) but it will be worth it!
