More About Coach Sophie
I’m a dedicated swim coach with 10 years of experience helping swimmers build stronger, faster, and more efficient strokes. I specialize in improving technique through clear, simple coaching that helps you understand why a movement matters and how to fix it. Whether you’re a competitive swimmer, triathlete, or an adult swimmer wanting to level up your stroke mechanics, I focus on body position, timing, power production, and efficient movement patterns so you can swim confidently and see real progress in the water.
I competed Division I at UCLA, where I swam for four years and served as team captain. I was a four-time Scholastic All-American and part of a highly competitive Pac-12 program. I’ve loved the water since I was a kid, and that lifelong passion for swimming is what inspires me to help others feel stronger, faster, and more confident in the pool.
In a typical session, swimmers can expect a highly personalized and technique-focused experience. I start by understanding each athlete’s goals and current challenges, then carefully assess stroke mechanics, body position, breathing, timing, and overall efficiency. From there, I break down corrections into simple, actionable adjustments that make sense in the water.
I like to structure my sessions so athletes understand both what they’re doing and why it matters. I use targeted drills to improve body alignment, rotation, kick engagement, catch and pull mechanics, timing rhythm, and power production. I often incorporate progression-based drills, underwater review when available, and clear feedback so athletes can immediately feel the difference in their stroke.
My coaching style is encouraging, detail-oriented, and supportive. I want swimmers to leave each session feeling stronger, faster, more confident, and with a clear understanding of what to work on next. Every session is athlete-focused, purposeful, and designed to build long-term, sustainable improvement, not just quick fixes.
