More About Coach Ryan

My coaching experience spans across various levels and several sports. I have coached basketball athletes from the middle school level to semi-professional. I also coached football on two levels, including high school and middle school.

In 2017, I decided to focus my coaching duties on strength and conditioning. I specialize in the development of beginning athletes, with a goal of creating a high level of general fitness that can be applied to many sports.

I began competing in organized sports at 10 years old and continued through college. Along the way, I competed in basketball, track & field, and football. In basketball, I was a part of the first ever State Championship for our high school. And in football, I received player of the week honors as a member of a Sub-region Championship team. However, Track and Field was my most decorated sport. It was also my favorite sport.

I competed in the Georgia State Games, as a 6th grader. During the meet, I placed 14th in the Long Jump, 6th in the 100 Meter Sprint, and 2nd in the High Jump. My 11th grade year was the best as an individual and team member. I was awarded with the MOST OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE for my 4th place finish in the Triple Jump during the Cobb County, Track & Field Championship. Our team placed 2nd in the Georgia State Championship that same year.

During my 12th Grade year, I fractured the fourth vertebra in my lumbar spine. That drastically hampered future performances, but I did continue competing at the University of Georgia in the Long Jump and Triple Jump.

The weight room was always the most fun to me, especially in college. I learned a great deal from our strength coaches and athletic trainers during my rehab process. And I always enjoyed science. So strength and conditioning is where I decided to focus my attention.

My training programs are designed to improve functionality of the body to maximize athletic performance and reduce the risk of injury and illness. Components of training include a variety of drills, skills, movements, and techniques.

All athletes will be assessed for specific performance objectives in fitness, performance, and mental toughness. In addition, I evaluate each athlete’s nutritional intake. A personalized program will be created, according to the athlete’s goals and the outcomes of the assessment, to improve energy systems conditioning, flexibility, cardiorespiratory endurance, core stability, power, balance, strength, speed, agility, quickness and mental toughness. I partner with my athletes to give them the best possible training, as each session is about improving your athleticism.

A typical workout session will include the following.

Warm-up
Power Training
Muscular Strength & Endurance Training
Skills Training
Flexibility & Mobility
Cool down
