More About Coach Robert

I played college football at Hampton University in Virginia I then transferred and played football for two years at Bowie State University where I was a two time all conference, and two time All American offensive guard I briefly worked out for the Chicago bears and then I was cut but I went in to play 3 years of Arena Football for the New Mexico wildcats as well as the Reading Express where I won an Arena Football World Championship in 2009 . I love the offensive line I'm very passionate about it my specialty is footwork development , hand placement and drills specific to making you more technically sound. I coached 3 years at Morgan park High School in Chicago, Ill one if the top football programs in the state I also coached offensive line in 2010 at Bowie State University. I'm really big on footwork and quickness and hand placement.

Two time All American offensive guard two time all conference offensive guard. Honorable mention all conference defensive tackle in college. I've also played professionally on the arena football level and in 2009 I won an arena league world championship. I was also named one of the best offensive guard prospects in the small school ranks my last year in 2005. I Held the school record for bench press with a 485 pound bench.

We would start off with a 15 minutes stretch, focused on getting lose , getting warmed up, we would do a series or lunges, high knees, butt kicks, sprints. Followed by position drills focused on hand placement, quick feet and taking the proper steps. That will last approximately 25 minutes. The last phase is strength and conditioning such as ladder drills, core conditioning, upper body strength building and endurance which will round out are session we also have post stretch. This is designed to prevent soreness and injury.

Amazing coach that pays great attention to detail

My son enjoys working with Coach Robert very much. He is a very knowledgeable and patient teacher. He has knack for getting my child to work hard while making it fun for him. Thank you Coach for sharing your knowledge and time to improve my sons performance on the field.

My son loves working with Robert. As a teacher, he is tough, but patient. He uses positive reinforcement that consistently builds my son's confidence. He has an extensive knowledge of football, particularly of the positions my son plays. He is willing to go the extra mile to travel out of his way to see my son's practice and review game films. We plan on working with him during both the on and off season. As a parent, I appreciate that he is conscientious about being on time and is always ready for the session. He is sure to let us know if he is running late or if there is a problem. We highly recommend Robert for those interested in a positive experience while improving their football game.

It is truly an honor to write this letter for Robert Blocker. I have known Robert for more than 15 years, as I was his high school PE teacher and head football coach at Morgan Park High School. He played as an offensive lineman all four years on our high school football team. Robert Blocker, “Big Block” as we called him on the team, was one of the most enthusiastic football players I have coached in my 39 years of coaching the sport. It was an honor to have coached “a big man” with such compassion and love for the game of football. For a large man (6’4” 330 plus lbs.), Robert Blocker’s eagerness for the game, zest for learning, and continuous improvement on his skill techniques, was incredible. He never had a bad day. Big Block” was a great skill technician and was like an O-line Assistant Coach on the field. He loved teaching his O-line teammates and had tremendous patience for slow learners. He would gladly take a lineman to the side and meticulously fine-tune their skill techniques. Robert had the ability to diagnose, demonstrate, and direct performances in our Morgan Park blocking schemes. His flexibility, speed of execution of skill, strength and knowledge of the game, made him a prolific “Pan Cake” blocker. Once he got his hands on his opposition it became a complete pan-cake. After his graduation, we created “The Pan Cake Award”, named after Robert Blocker and presented it to our best offensive lineman of the year. Robert’s work ethics and character put him head and shoulders above most high school student-athletes. He was a student-athlete that also prepared himself academically and earned a football scholarship to the prestigious HBCU Hampton University. His dedication, determination, work ethics, and strong FAITH, helped to shape him not only on the football field, but points towards his success in every future endeavors. It is with these memories in mind, of a highly focused young man, excellent coach-ability, and with great leadership skills that I highly recommend Robert Blocker in any endeavor. He will be a great asset to any company and/or program. Sincerely, Lexie W. Spurlock, Retired Head Coach, Morgan Park High School, 2012 Inductee Illinois High School Football Coaches’ Hall of Fame
