I use video analyses with all my athletes, so I can break down their techniques to better help them improve on their performance.
I will sit down with the athlete and their parents to access their knowledge of the sport. I will access their strength and weakness. And from that information I will set up a training plan for the number of sessions that they plan to use. I prefer to have at least 2 sessions a week, anything less will not help the athlete. The power and speed sport such as track requires the development of the neuromuscular system (muscle memory) that is why 2 sessions per week is suggested.
The sessions will incorporate many stationary drills, static and dynamic drills to teach the athlete how the proper movement should be performed. After the initial prep period is complete we will go into developing a proper warm-up. From there we will go into the workout focusing on their specific event, with the completion of the session they will go through a proper cool down, including range of motion drills, and stretches.
I require feedback from the athletes I coach so, they should be ready to communicate how the drills and exercises are helping their understanding of the event.

Very nice, patient, and knowledgeable coach. Works really well with kids.

Coach McNaughton is absolutely the best choice for my daughter. The drills, training tips, running program, and scholastic advice he offered is invaluable. His experience and ability to explain the technical aspects of hurdling will no doubt provide results on the track.

John has completed three sessions with Peter, and I have been very impressed with the progress in a relatively short period of time. Peter reviews the drills from the earlier sessions to ensure that technique is correct and then moves on to more advanced skills. Peter is extremely professional and detail oriented. I am impressed at his ability to quickly identify flaws in form and provide corrective advice. Hurdling is a fairly complicated track event to do correctly, and Peter has a methodical approach for moving an athlete step by step to greater proficiency.

My son John had a great initial session with Coach Peter. Peter clearly has substantially track coaching experience, and he was very patient with John, who has limited experience with hurdles. I believe that Peter is an excellent fit for John, and we plan to sign up for multiple coaching sessions this summer to advance John's skills in the 400 meter hurdles.

Coach Peter is extremely knowledgeable and has a great way of explaining form and technique so that it is immediately understandable. My son (16) has had one session with Coach Peter and we were both very impressed with his approach. I appreciated the time that he took to explain to both my son and myself what needed to change and what to look and 'feel' for when doing sprint/acceleration work. We look forward to continuing to work with him this entire off-season.

Coach Peter is very knowledgeable and experienced. His lessons have helped my son improve a lot. I would definitely recommend him.

Coach Peter is an excellent coach and I would recommend him to anyone serious about improving. He has exceptional knowledge, is firm but patient and earnest in working towards improvement. He worked with my daughter the fall of her senior year and her stamina and times improved. She has just finished running her first year at USF Division 1 Track and we plan to work with Peter again. Can not recommend him highly enough.

Peter is most certainly a top notch coach. You can easily tell this by his attention to the smallest details about training and overall philosophy-approach to different aspects of the training. Highly recommend.

Having Coach Peter as a coach was a very new experience for me because I had never had a private coach for track and field before. My track experiences prior to his coaching consisted of working with coaches on a school team, and their attention was usually divided among dozens of other athletes. Coach Peter is a very careful and attentive coach who does his very best to make sure that his students can attain their highest potential. He also takes videos of the athlete so the athlete can visually understand what it is they need to improve on, which I found especially helpful. Overall, his understanding of the sport was immediately obvious, and he was quickly able to tackle the problems I had in my running.

Coach Peter is a dedicated coach who communicates well and provides immediate feedback on proper technique. He is very detailed in his approach and explained the underlying principals and how they will contribute to maximizing my daughter’s performance. Excellent instruction and my daughter enjoyed working with Coach Peter.

My daughter has worked with Peter a couple times now and he has proven to be a professional and extremely knowledgeable track coach. He has given my daughter various quality training techniques to help her sprint times.

We just had our first meeting with Coach Peter it went great he's very technical and showed us a lot of opportunity to increase my 14-year-old son's speed look forward to our next meeting with him!

We selected Coach Peter because of his experience as a hurdler himself as well as his experience coaching hurdlers. We are very happy to be working with him more than a dozen sessions later. He’s patient and friendly to work with, supportive, knowledgable, and has helped my daughter improve her hurdling through a variety of drills emphasizing technique, speed, and strength. He often records drills during coaching session to show what the athlete has done properly and what they need to work on. We recommend Coach Peter highly.

Coach Peter is a gem! He has helped my daughter to learn lots of new skill building drills and has helped tremendously on her form. He has shared some great resource ideas for us to read and check out. Coach Peter knows his stuff and has a wonderful energy for the sport which is contagious and inspiring especially for young athletes.

Coach Peter has a deep understanding of hurdles and sprints that he has acquired through his extensive experiences as a coach and athlete. He quickly identifies an athletes strengths and weaknesses and devises drills to address deficiencies. His use of video analysis is superb and allows athletes to see what he sees. Coach Peter covers all aspects of sprinting/hurdling including warmups, drills, block work, sprinting form and hurdle technique. It has been a real pleasure to work with Coach Peter. I highly recommend Coach Peter to any athlete at any level who wishes to be a better sprinter or hurdler.

At out first session, Coach Peter spent nearly twice the allotted scheduled time with me and my 14 YO son. He spent a lot of time talking about overall training as well as specific mobility drills. I ask a lot of questions and Coach Peter was patient and thorough with his answers. Looking forward to our next session!

Coach Pete made excellent use of film in helping me with my start. He certainly knows sprinting!

Coach Peter gives personalized, focused attention and brings a formidable skill set to our sessions.

Very knowledgeable coach who's great at explaining technique to those new to most of the mechanics. Looking forward to seeing progress over the next six weeks.

Coach Peter is very organized and knowledgeable. He is teaching me proper form in an effort to increase my speed and durability. After making an evaluation of my level of experience he has devised a plan that will insure that I reach my goals. I highly recommend Coach Peter to runners of any age that want to improve their performances.

I selected Coach McNaughton to coach my 15 year old son due to his experience as a college athlete and coach and after one session I am extremely happy with that decision. Peter is extremely knowledgeable in sprinting and jumping, can translate that knowledge to an athletes performance, and quickly gained the respect and motivation of my son. We will continue to work with coach McNaughton over the winter and spring so my son can develop the skills necessary to reach his full potential during the 2015 High School Track and Field season.

After just one session with Coach Peter, my son's high school coach commented on how fast he was improving. No one expects instant results but we did get that from Coach Peter who is both experienced and knowledgeable.

Great instruction, easy to understand

Evan Zurbuchen Coach McNaughton! Long time no talk. Are you still coaching or what are you up to these days? Broke the IIAC record for the 400ih two days ago with a time of 53.13. Who woulda thought I would be getting after the 400 hurdles, huh? Thought you would find it interesting. Can't say you didn't have anything to do with it either, as you taught me so many technical aspects of hurdling that stuck with me and gave me a base to learn from and coach myself on everything you taught me after you left. So thanks!
