More About Coach Paige
I am about to complete a strength and conditioning internship at the Colorado School of Mines. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Exercise Science, and will be starting graduate school for physical therapy next month. I have extensive scientific knowledge about the body and how physiological knowledge can inform athletic training and performance. I will be taking the test to be a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) in September. I have given strength programs to some of my teammates/friends and they have found success with them. I haven't had an official paying job as a strength coach yet.
I played collegiate basketball and have done strength training with my own trainer since I was in 6th grade. My trainer has trained NBA star Damian Lillard for years now. He has taught me many principles about strength and conditioning that I have applied to my own training and what I have prescribed others. I am not a bodybuilder or weightlifter and don't plan on competing in any sort of weightlifting discipline. I just hope to work with athletes and help make them better.
It depends on what time of the year it is and what the client's goals are. In general, there will be a warm-up that will vary between sessions with the main goal of raising body temperature and heart rate. The hardest, most energy consuming exercises will be at the beginning of the workout, then I'll move into more accessory exercises and conditioning circuits. The sets and reps will depend on if we are working for strength, hypertrophy, or power adaptations.
