More About Coach Nathan

2012-2020 Olympic and World Championships coach. 10 athletes in Rio in 10 different events from 8 different countries. Many time NCAA Coach of the Year at Cornell University. 70+ DI All-Americans. Multiple NCAA Champions. Specializing in advanced analysis and individualized training in sprints, jumps, throws, hurdles and running. USATF Level 3 and World Athletics Master Coach.

I am a much better coach than I was an athlete. I competed for over 20 years in high school, college and beyond. I did the decathlon and my best events were the sprints, jumps, and javelin. My college teams won 35 Ivy League Championships and were in the top 20 DI teams for over 20 years. I am in the USATF Regional Hall of Fame and have coached athletes from middle school all the way to professionals and the Olympics.

We will do a concise/effective warmup and movement assessment. We will then move to drills that address biomechanical changes and are progressively more challenging. Following that, we will work on specific event instruction.

Wonderful experience with Coach Taylor.
Organized, reliable and inspiring!

Nathan is an excellent coach! We are signing up for more lessons!

Coach Nathan is awesome! We were looking for an experienced coach for my daughter. I coach track as well but wanted more technical help. After evaluating my daughter, coach Nathan began putting together a plan to improve her sprint mechanics. My daughter enjoys working with him and he is accepting of my input which is important to us. He is easy going but does not patronize his athletes. We are very excited to be working with him! His resume speaks for itself, he is the real deal.

Coach Nathan takes time to get to know each Athlete. My son likes the feedback and tips provided to him to make him better. We will continue to have sessions with Coach Nathan as I see this as a key part of the future success of my son.

What a great experience! Coach Nathan was not only a good high jump coach, but demonstrated great qualities in his teaching method. He was very positive and encouraging. The knowledge he was able to pass on to my 13 year old was incredible. He was able to explain physics to her without her knowing what physics meant before our session, and used her past experience of basketball and even riding a bike to help her understand the skills he wanted her to develop. We had a blast...I think she's still smiling!

Coach Taylor took the time to understand what we hoped to get from our time together and addressed our questions. Throughout the session, he identified areas of improvement and gave instruction in a way that was motivating, informative and challenging. We made the trip from PA to OH for expert coaching - we can’t wait to continue the process with Coach Taylor.

Coach Nathan is outstanding. We drive an hour each way to get his expertise! Looking forward to continuing our sessions, would highly recommend Coach Nathan to anyone who is looking to improve their performance!!
Ryan from Avon Lake

Coach Taylor is very attentive and determined to provide the best training possible. Coach makes every training lesson seem fun and never fails to correct everything that isn’t perfect. He is very prompt with training plans and is very flexible with scheduling. Coach is very encouraging and is the best cross country and track coach I have ever had. I highly recommend booking with Coach Taylor!!!

My son has had 12 sessions with coach Nathan. He has improved his running form dramatically. He is great with positive feedback. He has great credentials and it shows.

Very knowledgeable and great to work with. Excellent coach!!

Coach Taylor has the uncanny ability to explain the meaning and application of drills. In just a few sessions, I have witnessed a transformation of my son’s form and technique. Coach Taylor has a great demeanor when it comes to coaching athletes. We will continue to utilize Coach Taylor as my son progress through his high school career.

He talked me through the mechanical and functional issues that I have and recommended long term solutions for those problems. Happy to work with him and hoping for the best in the future.

My son has been running track for 3 years and has been feeling a bit discouraged because of his coaches not giving him the attention that was needed. After taking his first session with Coach Taylor he is beyond excited and looking forward to the rest of seasons in track because of what he learned in that one session. Thank you for bringing that excitement back out in him! He’s definitely excited about what you will teach him next.

We enjoyed our first session. Coach Nathan was knowledgeable and experienced. We look forward to additional sessions.

The first session with Coach Nathan exceeded my expectations. My high school daughters responded very positively to him - he's great with teens. His knowledge is fantastic and after just one session we all learned things about muscle development and biomechanics that were new to us and extremely helpful. We look forward to working with Coach Nathan and feel confident he will help them acheive their personal best results.

Coach Nathan has been working with my daughter to improve her throwing skills. His knowledge of throws and ability to correct technique is outstanding! She is always adding new drills and techniques to her throwing because of Coach Nathan. His personality and how he explains things makes the sessions enjoyable for my daughter. She has definitely improved by working with Coach Nathan on her throwing!

Coach Nathan is awesome! He takes the time to get to know you and understand the issues unique to you and to then develop a customized plan for you. Highly recommend him!

My son is Konner is having a Great time working with Coach Nathan. He is learning new techniques to improve his throwing for the remainder of this season and looking forward to next year with Coach Nathan helping to improve his distances. Konner is not only learning, he is having fun. Last night after his lesson he got in the car and his first words were "That man is a Genius" !!! Being a coach myself, I admire his coaching style. He knows his technique extremely well and is able to convey that to the athlete. Coach Nathan is able to get the work done in an atmosphere that allows the student athlete to learn in a positive way all while having fun. I am totally satisfied with the work that Coach Nathan has done with my son and look forward to Konner's future under his guidance.

Coach Nathan is extremely knowledgeable and personable. He connected with my 16 yr old daughter quickly and began to help her understand opportunities to improve her running mechanics. We're looking forward to working together over time to help her reach her goals.

My daughter is working with Coach on the high jump and he made an immediate good impression on her by first connecting with her as a person. He has tremendous subject knowledge and an excellent eye for detail. He sees even the smallest mistake, but is quick to encourage her when she does something correctly.

Coach Nathan was just what my daughter was looking for as his knowledge was apparent from the start and she was shown several drills and techniques at her first lesson that she feels will help her meet her goals and looks forward to continued lessons with Nathan. He knows his stuff and is very easy to talk and work with. Great find for my daughter.

Great teacher, passionate, patient and relatable. Actively engaged, energetic and knowledgable about the sport. Sets athlete up for success by focusing on the details...technique, core and cardio. Customizes plans to improve the individual athlete - both physically and mentally. Brings out the best in an athlete. One of the best I have seen!

Coach Taylor has a wealth of experience and knowledge and is wonderful to work with. He quickly identified some key weaknesses in my daughter’s running form and offered constructive advice for remedying it. She’s excited to continue working with him.

Coach Nathan is a great coach! In just two sessions I’ve learned so much. He breaks things down, and is very patient. I’d recommend him to anyone !

Coach Taylor was exceptional. When I arrived for the scheduled session a few minutes early with my daughter, everything equipment wise was already set up, and ready to go. My daughter hit the ground running, literally, and over the course of our session benefitted from coach Taylor's years of of experience in coaching track and field. I feel she learned valuable insights to improve her running events. If she sticks to his recommendations, I'm sure her times will improve.

Great intro to high jumping.

My daughter really enjoyed her first trial session with Coach Taylor. He worked with her to determine fitness and flexibility levels so he could give guidance on areas for her in which to focus. Coach Taylor has an ability to positively critique in a genuine manner, so his feedback is taken to heart. For a coach that has worked with some of the world's most elite athletes, he was able to make my high school daughter feel like he has been her coach for years, yet it was their first time working together. We have now booked an additional 10 sessions.

Coach Nathan was great to work with and did an excellent job or tailoring the session toward my sons capabilities.

One only needs to spend five minutes in his presence to understand the magnetism and charisma he brings to every task he undertakes. His energy is boundless, his enthusiasm is contagious and his ability to relate personally to young men and women of every background is simply incredible. His record on the field of play speaks for itself. Anyone can read the long list of accomplishments on his resume. National Champion athletes, nationally ranked teams, and Ivy Champion Programs are certainly impressive. He has the ability to coach every single event and to “see” every discipline in the sport in a way that I’ve never observed in any of my colleagues, and better yet, he teaches in a simple, down to earth manner that his athletes respect and relate to. He will push every one with whom he deals to the very limits of their ability, and he will do it with integrity and drive. But, what really sets Nathan apart from any other coach in the business is the lasting positive influence he is to every single one of his athletes, after the competitions have ended. Anyone who has been coached by him knows that they can come to him for advice about anything.
Nathan is nationally recognized and respected as an expert in track and field. His article “Jump to It” was published in the USTFCCA Technique Magazine, and he was appointed the Olympic Coach for the US Virgin Islands. While writing this letter, I reached out to two of the very best jumps coaches in the country and asked them what they thought about Nathan Taylor. Nathan has a wealth of experience, and a proven record of producing national level athletes.”---Boo Shexnayder Nathan is an excellent teacher and passionate, very passionate, about his student athletes and about the coaching. I have great respect for him and consider him to be one of the very best in the NCAA.”---Todd Lane In short, Nathan is one of the finest technical coaches in the country, and his results show it. In the past 12 years as the Head Men’s Track Coach at Cornell, Nathan has coached 2 NCAA DI National Champions and 16 Ivy League Championship teams. He is the winningest coach in Cornell and Ivy League history.
