More About Coach Max

I have experience working with high school distance runners who have significantly improved in the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m, all while having completed my Kinesiology and Health Science Degree. Now that I have received my education and have a deep understanding of the sport, I am looking to begin my profession as a running coach.

Being a part of a highly successful high-school and D1 college program has allowed me to learn and understand how to maximize all of a runner's potential so that they can see growth at every level of competition. It is my understanding that each runner has individual needs and therefore requires a highly individualized training program that will guide them to safely maximize their own potential.

I am willing to train runners of all ages and levels (beginner to elite) in cross country and track events ranging from the 800m to the Half Marathon

High-School:
- 3200m pr of 9:15 | 1600m pr of 4:19 | 800m pr of 1:57 | 5k pr of 15:36
- State Champion in Cross Country
- State Champion in the 3200m
- State Champion in the 1600m
- 4x Team State Champion in Cross Country
- Member of a 4x800m State Champion Team (1:55 split)
College:
- 8k pr of 25:16
- 5k pr of 14:59
- 3k pr of 8:43

When I first start working with an athlete, I first begin by having them fill out an athlete sports questionnaire form so I can gauge their previous running history and have an understanding of their day to day life and work/education schedule. I am also open to weekly zoom meetings/calls to discuss and adapt the training plan. This will help me to individualize their mileage, workout and long run days, and therefore know when stressors are high in order to facilitate the best recovery. (Improvements are only created with a proper balance of running and recovery)

My training format will include a comprehensive strength & injury prevention routine (15-20min 3-4 days/week) to ensure all precautions are taken in health management while training is taking place. As someone who has suffered from chronic overuse injuries in the past, I have learned and developed many exercises that have helped me to stay on my feet, and I believe they can help you stay healthy as well.

The athlete's running-based training will include a week by week progression that is designed to make them a well rounded and fully prepared runner by their goal race. The main concept is to create an athlete who is well versed in speed, stamina, endurance, and efficiency during the time leading up to the goal race. The individual's training will be a multi-paced training formula allowing for both proper recovery and for all the 'bases' to be hit. This sets the foundation for specific event-based training to take place closer to the goal race.

I also understand that life just happens sometimes, and for many reasons people may just need a small break or rest period due to work or other commitments. I am very understanding of this and am more than willing to adapt the training plan when life happens! I will always be available within a maximum of 24-48 hours to answer any questions/concerns about the program.
