More About Coach Mary

I have over five years of experience as a personal trainer specializing in sports performance and rehabilitation/return to play focused training. I most recently trained athletes and clients at Essential Strength before launching my own training business. I now serve as the Director of Sports Performance at Steel City FC, where I work with athletes to improve strength, speed, movement quality, and injury resilience. My training approach blends performance development with rehab-informed programming to help athletes return from injury safely while building a stronger, more durable body for sport.

I have an extensive athletic background competing in track, cross country, and soccer throughout high school, where I earned multiple honors and awards across all three sports. I continued my athletic career in college as a dual-sport athlete in track and soccer. I played collegiate soccer at University of Mount Union, where I continued developing my competitive mindset and passion for performance.
After graduating, I continued my playing career with the women’s first team at Steel City FC. As a fast, dynamic forward, I became one of the team’s leading goal scorers. My experience competing across multiple sports has strongly shaped my approach to training and developing athletes today.

Every session begins with an extensive dynamic warm-up designed to prepare the body for movement, activate key muscle groups, and reduce injury risk. From there, I assess the athlete’s movement patterns and implement a customized program based on their specific needs, sport demands, and training goals.
The core of the session focuses on developing sport-specific skills alongside power, speed, and functional strength. I prioritize proper technique and movement quality while building strength and explosiveness, all while ensuring the athlete’s body stays healthy and resilient.
We finish each session with a cool-down that often includes something a little more fun or competitive, allowing athletes to leave the session feeling accomplished, energized, and motivated for the next one.
