More About Coach Madison

I have been involved in the sport of running for 20+ years. I have found high levels of success during my college years to the present day. I ran cross-country and track at Butler University in Indianapolis where I ran personal best times of 14:31 for 5,000 meters, 29:35 for 10,000 meters, and was an individual qualifier to the NCAA National Championships in cross country. The education i received at Butler was a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science. Since graduation I have run 1:07:57 for the half-marathon distance. I have a marathon PR of 2hrs 22mins. I have coached athletes from elementary school all the way to athletes in their 60s and 70s.

I still compete and train at a high level, which will be beneficial to my clients because I will be able to partake in various exercises and drills alongside my clients.

I take pride in stressing that there is more to the sport of running than just going out for a run. It is the smaller things that make the big differences. Dynamic warm up, form drills, stretching routines, hip/glute activation, and periodization of training are some of the principles that I like to focus on.

Above all, I strive to create positive relationships with clients that goes beyond coach/athlete. I look to create a friendship where mutual respect exists, therefore allowing me to share my knowledge with the running community that has provided me with so much love and opportunity.

Sessions are individualized in order to meet the goals and time restraints for each client. 1-on-1 sessions generally begin with a dynamic warm up (light jogging, stretching, form drills) followed by the days workout as it relates to the individual clients goals. This can range from a run for time or distance to a more intense running workout (fartlek, repetition work, tempo run). I end with either a cool down period of light jogging and stretching and/or form drills and strides
