As a decathlete with a distance background, I’ve gained experience working/competing in every event group. Total of 16 years involved in Track and Field, including 9 as an athlete, 2 at the HS level and 5 at the collegiate level.

Coach Kyle challenged me mentally to become the best athlete I could be and was a significant source of support on and off the track. What I admired most about Coach Kyle was the genuine care had for his athletes.. When I was struggling with performance nerves, I talked to Kyle about it hoping that he could talk me out of my mental barriers. Every single meet, he would talk to me about what I was feeling before the races and help me settle my nerves. On a personal note, the results I was seeing with Kyle made me love the sport again. I’ve competed in track and field since my freshman year of high school - and always competing at a high level. After having a regression my freshman year , I was doubtful about my future in track and field. This took a heavy toll on me mentally. Coach Kyle joined us in our second year, and with a very quick turn around my times and jumps improved tremendously. My goal was to run under 13.00 seconds in the 100m by the end of the year. I was able to accomplish that almost every single race with the help of Coach Kyle. My numbers for Long Jump improved greatly as well, and I accomplished a PR of 5.05m. By the end of the year, I had accomplished all of my goals including winning our Conference Championship in the 100m dash with a big P.R of 12.81. During the race I was extremely nervous, but Kyle's support was what helped me break any mental barrier that would stop me from achieving this goal. This truly would have never happened for me without the support of Coach Kyle.
Kyle didn’t just coach us, he helped us rebuild. He was instrumental in strengthening our team culture, fostering unity, and pushing us to be our best both on and off the track. Through his guidance, I learned valuable lessons about leadership, resilience, and teamwork. Kyle played a huge role in helping me achieve many of my personal records, molding me into the best track athlete I could be. He was always by my side, supporting and challenging me as we worked to leave the program in the best possible shape for future athletes. I know I’m not alone in saying that he made a difference in all of our lives. Anyone would be lucky to have Kyle as a coach, and I’m grateful for the time I spent learning from him.
