More About Coach Kevin
I am a basketball coach and player development specialist with experience coaching and training athletes across multiple ages and skill levels. My background includes serving as Head Coach of the East Carolina University Women’s Club Basketball Team, coaching youth and AAU basketball, and working directly with players through individual and small-group development.
My approach is built around a simple belief: players improve by learning to solve real basketball problems. I design competitive, game-based environments that challenge athletes to read defenders, recognize space, make decisions, adapt under pressure, and discover effective solutions.
Rather than relying on repetitive, one-size-fits-all drills, I adjust the rules, space, scoring systems, defensive pressure, and other challenges within each activity to help players develop skills that transfer to actual games.
I have completed additional professional development in basketball player development, speed and agility, and fitness. My goal is to help every athlete become a more confident, adaptable, and intelligent basketball player.
My basketball journey began as a multi-sport high school athlete, competing in both varsity basketball and football. That experience gave me an early appreciation for competition, athletic development, teamwork, and the different ways athletes learn and perform.
Over the years, my greatest impact in basketball has come as a coach and player development specialist. I have coached athletes across youth, AAU, high school, and collegiate club settings, including serving as Head Coach of the East Carolina University Women’s Club Basketball Team.
I have continued to invest in my development through specialized education in basketball player development, speed and agility, and fitness. My background also includes certifications and professional development through Impact Basketball, Ganon Baker Basketball, NESTA, and NASM.
As a coach, I have led youth teams to league and tournament championships, but I believe development goes beyond wins and trophies. My greatest coaching highlights come from helping players grow in confidence, learn to make better decisions, compete under pressure, and become more capable of solving the problems the game presents.
After more than three decades around basketball as a player, coach, and student of the game, I continue to evolve my approach based on how athletes actually learn. Today, my focus is helping players develop adaptable, game-ready skills that transfer to real competition.
My training sessions are built around how basketball is actually played: with teammates, defenders, space, timing, pressure, and constant decisions. For that reason, I specialize in small-group development and conduct sessions with a minimum of two players.
This format allows athletes to develop skills in a more realistic basketball environment. Players are not simply repeating predetermined moves or memorizing cone patterns. They are learning to read defenders, attack space, create advantages, make decisions, communicate, compete, and adapt in real time.
Sessions may include small-sided games, advantage and disadvantage situations, live 1-on-1 and 2-on-2 play, shooting with game-relevant decisions, finishing against defensive pressure, ball-handling in response to opponents, off-ball movement, and competitive problem-solving activities.
I adjust based on space, time, scoring rules, defensive positioning, number of dribbles, and player matchups to create challenges based on the needs of the athletes in each session. This allows players of different experience levels to be appropriately challenged while still training together.
Every session is designed to be active, competitive, and purposeful. My goal is not simply to make players look good during training. My goal is to help them become more confident, adaptable, and effective when the game becomes unpredictable.

Coach Kevin is an excellent coach. I hadn’t played basketball in over 4 years due to an acl tear and lost confidence along the way. So I was nervous about coming back. Coach Kevin was very encouraging throughout this process and very patient with me I could tell that he really cared about my success. He was very flexible with my schedule. He improved my skills within 3 weeks I went from losing the ball and getting fatigue the first day to handling the ball very well and making majority of my shots. I definitely recommend you book a session with him if your trying to get to the next level you can tell he’s very passionate.

Coach Kevin, is Fantastic
Coach is prompt and on time… Coach Kevin is Awesome. He takes his time on skill development. He is knowledgeable and he has a love for this sport. My son does not complain when he has to see him. Trust me, if you know my son this is a wonderful thing. So, his approach to building up your child is top notch and we are extremely great full to have him as a coach.

Coach Kevin is awesome! In addition to knowing his stuff, he also works on the intangibles of the game, such as building player confidence. My daughter has grown a lot as a player because of Coach Kevin!
Shane (CoachUp client)
Coach Kevin helped our daughter with technical skills, but what impressed us most is how she came out of hard training sessions encouraged and with more confidence in her abilities. Just because you know how to do something doesn’t mean you can coach someone else to do it, but Kevin excels at all parts of coaching.
