More About Coach Kennedy

In 2017 I played and coached football in Germany for the Hamburg Huskies in the GFL 1, the highest level of football in Germany at the time. In the Fall of 2018, I coached the defensive backs at Sam Barlow High School in Oregon where we recorded 13 interceptions as a defense and had 3 defensive backs (1 Senior, 1 Junior, 1 Sophomore) selected to the all-league team. I assisted coaching the wide receivers, a group that also had 3 players selected to the all-league team.
In 2019-2020 I was coaching the wide receivers at Thiel College, a Division III school in Pennsylvania.
Since then, I have been taking personal training and sport specific clients in Oregon and Arizona. Currently residing in Phoenix, hoping to help athletes reach their full potential!

My approach is based on the individual athlete and how to most effectively make the proper progressions and create the most significant improvements in an athlete's performance.
I take a ground-up approach to performance training. Athleticism starts with our feet and our core, these are the foundations of our athletic ability. Just like with a house, if our foundation is not stable, our body is more prone to injuries and less likely to perform at our potential. In order to reach our true athletic potential, we must address the foundation of our movements and build up from there.

Just like when learning anything, if we don't know why we are doing it we are less likely to buy into the small but important details that we are learning. Athletes need to understand why they are doing certain movements/drills and how they apply it in their competitive field. I believe that every athlete should have a universal set of skills and techniques that can carry over across each position in their sport and even across each sport they play.

Proper movement patterns first, even if that means slowing down in order to get the movement right and create the correct neurological pathways in order to make the most efficient movements.
It's all about progression. Start simple and increase intensity, difficulty, speed, etc., as the athlete learns/improves the technique.
Ex. Teaching the backpedal-- Stance->First Step-> Straight Backpedal-> weave-> leverage step-> turn and go-> and so on...
