More About Coach Kelcey

Kelcey is an athlete who participated in sports throughout her life. She swam four years at Gilford College and lead her team as captain during her senior year. After college, Kelcey transitioned to completing triathlons and spends her time helping lifeguard open water swim clinics for triathletes. She's completed 4 triathlons and trains adult athletes who are training for sprint, olympic and Ironman Triathlon events.

When she's not in the water, she coaches the Friends Select School Swim Team, an age group USA swim team. She has also coached middle school and high school swimming.

Other Credentials:
- US Masters Coaching: Level 3
- Certified American Red Cross Swim Coach
- Active Lifeguard Certification

Kelcey competed for four years and swam for Guilford College in the ODAC Conference. Most of our meets were held in Virginia and North Carolina. My events were the 100 free, 100 breast and 200 breast.

What can you expect? Workouts designed by Coach Kelcey to help achieve your individual goals. A one-on-one session include drills and stroke break down.

Oh and we cant forget that need, need for speed. I get it you could be as fast as the flash on land but working in water is a whole different sphere. I'm here to show you that if you want to go fast you can go fast.

Taping sessions that allow you to see what you look like swimming and allow you to correct your stroke, working out the kinks of your stroke will hope you do two things, make your stroke more efficient and make you faster.

Can't make it to the pool? If you cant make it to the pool that day let me give you a few exercises that can still improve your performance.

If speed isn't your thing, that's ok. I've taught a wide range of levels! I've taught young kids learning to swim for the first time. I have taught adult trying to learn to swim before their vacation to Hawaii.

I am so grateful to Coach Kelcey! I have wanted to learn to swim my whole life and was too scared to do it. She was so patient with me and taught me so much so quickly! She was so flexible to come out to teach me with my busy work schedule. I am so happy I can now swim. I had a great experience with Kelcey and highly recommend working with her!

Kelcey was absolutely wonderful with my 8yr old daughter at her first session. She spoke with me about our goals, and was attentive to Olivia and made the session fun and not seem like work. Can't wait for Olivia's next session with Kelcey.

Very patient with me and I was able to learn a few new techniques that I will definitely start working on.

It's been a lot of fun working with Kelcey. She is practical & encouraging and that has made learning to swim fun. She has been very supportive of this 'late-in-life' learner and I have made significant progress in a short period of time. I look forward to our ongoing collaboration.
03/09/2017 Update: It has been almost a year since I've taken lessons from Coach Kelcey. (I've been swimming regularly ever since and I can still hear her reminder to keep my head down!) I wanted to update this review as a reminder of what a lasting influence her coaching has had on me. Swimming is my primary mode of exercise which I easily fit it into a busy travel schedule; I wouldn't have done it without working with Kelcey. Thanks Coach!

Kelcey did a great job with my daughter. She gave her some really helpful tips that she will use moving forward. It was very productive and she is an excellent teacher.

Very knowledgeable about swim technique and strokes. She not only gave great instruction but took the time to demonstrate for him. Looking forward to our next session with coach Kelsey!

Kelcey was a great coach. She was extremely patient at every session and took the time to demonstrate techniques she wanted me to try. She is extremely passionate about coaching and its infectious. I am so happy I decided to sign up for session with her. I would recommend her to anyone who would like to improve on their swimming skills.

Coach Kelcey was a great coach! It was my first ever swimming lesson, and she helped me to decrease some water anxiety and to practice on some basic techniques . I look forward to working with her again!

Kelcey is great. Straight to the point and makes you work. Exactly what I needed.

Kelcey was great! She was very easy to work with and was very helpful for the first session. She even had a early morning time available. I look forward to working with Kelcey again. It is great to know there is help out there.

Coach Kelcey has been very patient and was helpful with various tips/workout routines considering how poorly I swim. After 3 sessions, I can notice the improvement and would recommend everyone to work with her.

I've had 2 sessions with Coach Kelcey so far and have already learned a great deal. I'm a former Crossfitting male in my 40's with no background in formal swimming, but with a desire to get all my exercise through swimming due to its being gentle on the joints. Coach Kelcey breaks strokes down into progressions and keeps an eye on form, enabling me to learn quickly. After our session, she creates a work-out for me to practice before the next session. I'm picky when it comes to coaches and have been very impressed with her attention to detail, demonstrations, and ability to articulate movements. I have been continually motivated to practice and am increasing enjoying my time in the water!

Coach Kelcey has been great working with my daughter. Kelcey focused on all the right things and my daughter feels much more prepared for her next swim season.

Kelcey is amazing! I'm an adult who is returning to swimming after several years. Kelcey's approach to coaching is patient and thorough. She explains drills and provides feedback that I can understand. She gets in the water to help make corrections to ensure that I am getting the most out of each session.

Coach Kalcey is great, and my daughter learned a lot of from her. Her way of teaching really inspired her to swim better!

Coach Kelcey is awesome. I am really starting to enjoy swimming and have become really comfortable in the water and swam 1000 yards today- woohoo! She is patient, super kind, caring and funny and makes the training sessions super fun. She's the best. Don't be scared if you are a beginner- I was and 4 sessions in am really starting to love swimming!

Coach Kelcey was great with the first session. I felt comfortable with her patience and how she was able to easily adapt her technique when something didn't work with me.

Kelcey has a great way with my daughter, pushing her past what comes easily while having lots of fun.
