More About Coach Jc
I have experience coaching athletes at various levels and multiple sports including football, wrestling, softball, and soccer.
I served as the assistant varsity offensive line coach at Kearns High School in Utah as well as the varsity offensive line coach and varsity wrestling coach at Rigby High School in Idaho where I focused on developing players’ skills, techniques, and support athletes in reaching their goals.
Alongside high school coaching, I have also guided many youth sports teams. This experience has allowed me to work closely with younger athletes, typically in the age range of 6 to 12 years, emphasizing fundamental skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
I continually strive to enhance my coaching capabilities and stay updated with the latest industry practices to help ensure that my coaching methods are effective and aligned with best practices in the field.
I am proud to have earned a full-ride scholarship to Weber State University, where I had the opportunity to start 43 out of 44 games during my collegiate football career. Throughout my time there, I received multiple All-Conference awards and was honored to be named an All-American in both my junior and senior years.
Following my college career, I pursued my dreams further and signed as an undrafted free agent with the Detroit Lions, where I played for one year at the professional level.
In addition to my accomplishments in football, I have a well-rounded athletic background, having competed as a varsity athlete in four sports during my high school years: football, wrestling, track, and baseball. This diverse experience has greatly enriched my understanding of sports and athletics.
In a typical session, my first goal is to assess each athlete’s current understanding and skill level as an offensive lineman. Recognizing that this position is one of the most challenging on the football field, I plan to tailor my approach to meet the individual needs of each athlete.
I place significant emphasis on essential skills such as footwork and balance, as they are crucial for success in this role. Each session includes a structured warm-up followed by targeted drills that focus on these key areas. For instance, we may work on various footwork techniques, including lateral movement and quick steps, to enhance agility and responsiveness. Additionally, I incorporate balance drills to ensure athletes can maintain stability while engaging with defenders.
Throughout the session, I prioritize technique refinement, providing specific feedback and adjustments to help athletes improve their performance. My sessions are designed to be dynamic and engaging, with a focus on building both physical skills and a strong understanding of the offensive lineman's responsibilities.
By the end of our time together, athletes can expect to leave with a clearer understanding of their position, enhanced skills, and strategies they can apply in practice and games.
