More About Coach Erin
I have experience coaching a range of athletes from beginner to advanced in distances from 5k up to marathon. I have coached myself in multiple marathons, including a course PR of 3:04 in the 2019 Boston marathon. I have trained multiple beginner runners through 5k training programs culminating in the successful completion of a 5k race (no stopping!). I am also an RRCA Certified Running Coach. I work with runners of all age groups and abilities.
I trained post collegiately with the Greater Boston Track Club for 5 years (2015 - 2020) during which time I competed in 7 marathons with a PR of 3:02 and over 15 half marathons with a PR of 1:24. I earned the club Athlete of the Year award in 2017. I have also trained competitively with a private coach where I gained experience using different training techniques and styles which has made me a more resilient and well-rounded runner.
I create a customized training plan for the athlete based on their unique running experience, injury history and race goals.
Below is a general outline of an example interval session for an athlete training for a half marathon:
5-10 minutes of dynamic stretches (hip circles, walking lunges, high knees)
10-15 minute warmup jog
4 x (3 minutes at half marathon pace, 2 minutes easy jog)
4 x (1 minute at 5k pace/1 minute easy jog)
10-15 minute cooldown jog
10 minutes of static stretching
