More About Coach Dominick

Hello, it feels great to be back in my hometown of Dayton, Ohio area from Los Angeles, California and Dallas Texas. I enjoyed my coaching career in both major cities. I have a lengthy coaching background in which I have coaching experience on all levels from elementary, middle (head football and head track coach for 3 years) and high school assistant coach for 7 seasons. I'm currently an head high school track coach and recently coached at high schools in Texas and California as the sprints, discus and shot put coach.(http://coachlaster.wixsite.com/hhs-coyote-track/coaches-bio)
I was also in charge of player development for high school football athletes and track and field athletes as well in Dallas.
And also privately trained a lot of high school and college athletes in the Los Angeles and Dallas area for track and football.

Over the years I've coached numerous athletes who've competed and advanced at districts, area and regional track meets. I've also coached and helped former athletes receive track scholarships.

I've been an athlete majority of my life from playing varsity high school football and track, and competing at the collegiate level. Football is and will always be my number 1 passion, I had numerous football scholarships for Division I football but I had to turned them down after having to quit football due to constant migraines. Track has always been my passion as well. I ran the 100 & 200 meters. I participated and won the gold medal as a teenager at USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships at University in Auburn for discus. I qualified and competed at state in high school for discus. During my collegiate career I competed and qualified for the Division II Men’s & Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship for discus.

First off i'll talk to the athlete about his or her goals first and learn more about them so I can get a feel for that individual. Then we'll start with stretching/balance drills and warm ups. There will also be weight lifting training session to help the athlete get stronger because throwing the discuss and shot put deals with a lot of leg training/lifting. Also some upper body training.

As far as the discuss and shot put practice session the athlete will be working on power and standing power throws, glide, pivot drills, half spin and spin technique. I concentrate on a lot of speed, explosion and torque. The athlete should expect quite a bite of speed drills. I recommend all athletes have their own discus, shot put, throwing shoes and also running shoes if I'm training them on sprints for the track.

I coach a lot of football players and sprinters. I do numerous speed training drills with cones, on the track or football field.

Client Reviews

Even after just one session we could tell that Coach Dominick was a knowledgeable and patient coach who is willing to meet the player at their level, whether that is a beginner or and advanced athlete. My son feels very comfortable with him as a beginning athlete and left the first session excited about continuing and getting better.

Very impressed with Coach Dominick! When my son got in the car after his session I asked him what he thought - he looked at me with wide eyes and said "AWESOME"! Coach D pushed him and is challenging him with a tough workout routine and I think my son is really going to enjoy it!

Coach Dominick is great! My 12 y/o showed improvement after the very first session. She looks forward to her training sessions.

Coach Dominick is patient and very knowledgeable about shot put and Discus. Above, he's passionate and great as a coach. I would recommend him to anyone irrespective of skills level.
Thanks.

Coach Dominick is an amazing coach, he not only inspired me to be great on the field but also being a leader off the field, he focuses a lot on integrity and being positive." Amanda S. (Texas Tech University) I admire coach W. so much as a coach, his intensity, leadership and passion for the sport of football and track can't be measured, he will work you and get the best out of you."
