• Perform physical assessments on new clients and decide on specific goals that the client should accomplish over the course of the training period. Design a workout based on those goals

Hello! My name is Julia Saunders and I'm a freshman volleyball player at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I have worked with Derreck through my club team starting when I was a sophomore. He has helped to improve agility and strength while also building muscle to help prevent injury. He is very receptive to what we need as athletes in general and also what we need in order to be successful in our respective sport. Personally, Derreck has helped me work on lifting techniques in the weeks leading up to my departure for school so that I would enter the weight room with the knowledge necessary so that I could begin lifting and getting stronger on day one. He is also creative when it comes to the exercises. For example, instead of just running laps to build cardio and endurance he would combine cardio and endurance with pushing a weight on the ground so that the leg, back and arm muscles are being worked. He is also able to build relationships with the athletes, myself included, while also being able to be strict during the workout. It is easy to see that he cares about not only my success as an athlete but every athlete he trains, he is fully invested.
