I am dedicated to training athletes at a level that matches their stage of development. Using a game-based coaching philosophy, I attempt to design drills that closely reflect the technical skills, fundamentals and progressions necessary to excel at higher levels of competition, attempting to tailor each plan to the demands of the specific sport. While there is no one-size-fits-all approach to athlete development, I draw on my experience as a coach and trainer, professional certifications, and genuine passion for sports to attempt to design the most effective program possible for each individual.

Q: What are the benefits of sport-specific drills and strength/skill building progressions?

A: A: Sport-specific drills and progressions attempt to enhance an athlete's technical skills, fundamentals and abilities to apply their training to in-game sport-specific scenarios. This is commonly known as the transfer-of-training effect.

Q: What can I expect from a training session?

A: I attempt to provide training sessions that are tailored to the athlete’s current skill level and developmental goals, guided by continuous needs analysis and observation. I try to develop session plans that address the athlete’s and/or parents' goals and objectives, emphasizing areas for growth and improvement while providing guidance toward realistic and achievable outcomes.

Although training results are never guaranteed [all athletes are built differently], I am committed to creating a safe, enjoyable, and positive training environment. Through a variety of sport-specific drills, athletes are encouraged to enhance their skills, build confidence in themselves and their approach to competition, and have fun.

A: Yes, I am a Certified Personal Trainer [CPT] through the National Academy of Sports Medicine [NASM].

Coach Colton is GREAT! We set up pre season training for my 11th grade daughter and her and I both were very impressed with his coaching style and ability. He’s super nice, which makes him easy to work with. He works the athlete hard, but makes sure it’s fun. He promotes positive attitude and great work ethic. He taught my daughter very helpful drills that she has never done in 8 years of basketball. She enjoyed every minute of training and can’t wait to get back to it again.

Coach Corey is great! He plans out his workouts in great detail and adjusts to meet the strengths and weaknesses of our sons. He has them working hard but also makes the sessions fun! Very happy with coach Corey!!!

Coach Corey has worked hard to help build a play-off caliber AAA high school football program at Spring Mills.
Coach Corey met the skill level and needs of his team. He used positive comments in order to help better a player. He ran drills and exercises to help his players improve their skills. When needed, he worked one on one with his players to improve specific skills while other players worked on specific drills. Coach Corey kept a clean and organized equipment room.
