More About Coach Chrisford

Specialist in Jump Events | Experienced Coach | Mentorship in Track and Field

With a specialized focus on jump events, including Triple Jump and Long Jump, I bring extensive experience and a proven track record of coaching athletes at various levels. My background encompasses working with Division I athletes, as well as Unattached athletes with aspirations of advancing to the professional level.

Coaching Experience:
Volunteer Coach, DePaul University (2019-2020): Contributed to the development and training of collegiate athletes, providing expertise in jump events while supporting the team’s overall performance.

Personal Coaching: Successfully mentored athletes aged 13 to 23, tailoring training programs to meet individual needs and goals, with an emphasis on both technical skill development and competitive readiness.

My coaching philosophy integrates a deep understanding of jump mechanics with a personalized approach to athlete development, fostering both skill enhancement and mental resilience.

3X All-Conference Athlete:
2X NCAA Qualifier: Ranked 12th in the region and 25th in all of Division I Track and Field in 2018 in the Triple Jump.
52'4 Triple Jump 25'1 Long Jump

Elite Competitions: Competed against world-class athletes such as Will Claye, Christian Taylor, Omar Craddock, and Chris Bernard. Participated in prestigious meets including the Drake Relays and Mt. Sac Relays.

African Cup of Nations Qualification (2021): Qualified for this esteemed international competition, highlighting my ability to compete on a global stage.

My session plans focus on enhancing technique and explosiveness. For long jumpers, we'll concentrate on optimizing the approach, takeoff, and landing phases, incorporating drills that improve speed and jumping mechanics. For triple jumpers, we'll emphasize the coordination between hop, step, and jump phases, with specific drills to build rhythm, strength, and agility. Both plans will include strength and conditioning exercises to support explosive power and overall performance.

Client Reviews

My high school daughter (a jumper) just started training with Coach Chris. My initial thoughts are ... he is amazing! He is super positive, motivating, knowledgeable, and passionate about working with athletes to help them achieve their full potential (and more). Not only is Coach Chris committed to helping my daughter attain her jumping goals for the upcoming season, he's motivating her to expand those goals (and also making her realize it's an attainable goal), and he teaching her that it's not just about the strength and form; it's also about confidence and mental head-space strength. Coach Chris is also super responsive via text/email, and he keeps me abreast of their workouts, his expectations, his observations and what she needs to focus on . He's always on time for workouts (if he's running a few minutes late, he's quick to let us know he'll be a few minutes late.) He is flexible in regard to where they meet for workouts (always accommodating to us). I was struggling to find a jumps coach for my daughter, so I reached out on this site and to this coach as an option. I AM SO GLAD I did. I highly recommend Coach Chris!

As an alumni of Lake View High School, Chrisford has given his time to the track and field jumping team for years, using his wealth of training knowledge and charismatic personality to not only challenge athletes but motivate them through social/emotional connection as well. He helps our elementary jumpers understand the fundamentals and provides drills for our advanced jumpers to refine their technique. We are grateful for his time and knowledge.
Yooo what it do, This is Enoch Appiah-Kubi, former two time ALL-State jumper and D1 jumper at Eastern Illinois. My experience with Chris was “mind shifting”. His training will also change how you go about competing in terms of the mindset. It started after my freshman season that we started working together. The biggest thing when working with him was technique. He also has this quality over quantity ideology and good tips and habits that help for success long term. Always down to help out virtually. Overall, successful training with him as I went from jumping about 39ft to 48ft in a span of three years. My high school best in the long jump was also 22ft 7inches. A lot of these high school coaches can’t get you to the next level in jumps like he can.
Hey, I would like to start off by saying Mr. Stevens changed the trajectory of my track career. I went from 14.26m to 14.96m in one season. I became the Big east runner up in the triple jump because of his training. My long jump also significantly improved. I jumped 7 meters due to his knowledge of the approach. All in all, great jumps coach, can’t go wrong with this guy.
Coach Chris has been my coach for over two years, starting back when I was still in high school. On weekends, he would dedicate time to help me refine my skills in the long jump. We incorporated college and professional-level exercises to enhance both of our performances in competition. Under his guidance, I saw significant improvements in my long jump distance, running form, and leadership abilities. Inspired by Coach Chris, I set a goal to match, if not surpass, his achievements. During my final years of high school track and field, I was honored to be named team captain and went on to do great things in my track and field career.
