More About Coach Benjamin
I have been coaching Track and Field as well as Cross Country at the High School level for 8 years at Lecanto High School. I have coached athletes that have advanced to the State Championship level in the 4x800(1), 800(1), 1600(1), 300 meter Hurdles(2), and High Jump(4). I am constantly seeking out learning opportunities to stay up to date on the best ways to train athletes.
Ranked 26th nationally in Orienteering(Cross Country with Land Navigation) in 2011. I still to this day run 5k's for fun to get that feeling of competition but I now get most of the thrill of competition from watching the athletes that I've coached succeed and reach their goals.
A typical session will be focused around determining the strengths, weaknesses, and areas in need of improvement for the athlete. The goal of the workout will be to isolate what the athlete should be focusing on in the future in order to see the most success. For runners this could mean what energy zone they need to use in their workouts in order to see the best results.
