More About Coach Arina
I have a couple years of coaching experience working with swimmers of all ages, from young children to adult Masters swimmers. I’ve coached both group and private lessons, focusing on everything from basic water comfort and technique to advanced stroke refinement, race strategy, and conditioning. My coaching experience includes time at a local swim club in Blairwood KY, where I trained swimmers of various levels. While I do not currently hold formal certifications, I bring extensive experience from my elite competitive career, including Olympic-level training and NCAA Division I competition.
I am a former professional swimmer who represented Russia in the Olympic Games and multiple European and World Championships. I also competed at the NCAA Division I level for the University of Louisville, where I earned multiple conference honors and was a key member of the team throughout my collegiate career. My specialties included freestyle and butterfly, and I competed in both national and international meets. Being part of an Olympic team has given me deep insight into high-performance training, discipline, and the mental side of competition.
In a typical session, I start with a short warm-up and stroke assessment to identify areas for improvement. I tailor each session to the swimmer’s goals—whether it’s technique, speed, endurance, or building water confidence. Drills often focus on stroke mechanics, body positioning, starts, turns, and breathing technique. I also incorporate feedback and video analysis (when available) to help swimmers visualize their movements. Each session ends with a short review and encouragement to track progress. My style is technical, supportive, and goal-oriented.
