More About Coach Alana

When I stopped playing sports, I did not know how to exercise. I was confused because I was a 4 year varsity multi-sport athlete. I knew how to run and sprint, especially with a soccer ball and a lacrosse stick. I did not know anything about resistance training.

So when I stopped playing sports, I continued to run. I ran a few marathons. But I became even more confused because I could not do a pull-up. Long story short, I went back to school to learn everything about exercise physiology.

During my journey going back to school to pursue a master's degree in exercise science, I was privileged to have the opportunity to work with various athletes from middle school all the way to D1 collegiate athletes. Some of those athletes include various teams at Monmouth University, University of Northern Colorado, and at the Hun School of Princeton.

I remember when I completed my 4-month training program leading up to run my first marathon. The marathon was in a week or two, but when I completed that 20 mile run I had tears in my eyes. I was proud of myself for sticking to the program. I had never run a distance in the double digits prior to that training program. I learned to be consistent, trust the process, and love the journey.

True story, the actual marathon was cut short due to hurricanes in the area. I only ran about 21 miles. I was heartbroken so I found a small marathon to run a few weeks later that was along an old railroad track. The course was 13.1 miles out, turn around, and run 13.1 miles back.

I will take clients through various movement patterns and assess their strengths and weaknesses. This will provide me with the information needed to build strong foundations that will allow athletes to perform with the strength and athleticism needed to excel at their sports.
We will work hard in my sessions, but we also learn and have fun. I want to build a foundation for athletes to perform at their best. I also want them to have knowledge about strength, exercise, and health once their competitive sport careers end whether that may be after high school, college, or professional.

We will build the athlete's strong foundation together throughout our sessions. This will look different for each client, as no person is the same.
