More About Coach Adam
I was the strength and conditioning coach and the throws coach for the throwers at Alabama A&M University from 2017-2019. I coached an athlete to become Alabama A&M's first SWAC champion in weight throw, hammer throw, and discus, also breaking the school records in those three events.
I was the head coach at Huntsville Junior High from 2023-2024. My first year I coached the girls team to a first place finish at the Huntsville City Schools championship meet, turning their 2 year winning streak into 3. My time there got me into learning to coach more than just throws. I coached every event but feel most comfortable coaching long jump.
I currently coach the #1 shot putter in the nation for the 9 year old age group (Lyric Stevenson). I'm also the founder of Rocket City Athletics, my track and field club team which will start this summer.
I competed as a Division I thrower for Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama from 2013-2017. My main events were hammer, weight throw, and discus.
Parents and athletes:
I'm not sure whether CoachUp only advertises coaches during the season or during the season is when y'all decide to seek coaching, but the off-season and pre-seasons is when training should be a priority. It's difficult to improve an athlete how we'd like to when we only train them during the season for 1-2 times a week. Getting training during the season is like taking an open book test. Sure the access to information is there but if you're not a quick reader (learner), it would be much more beneficial to come in already knowing the answers. Please keep that in mind because for most athletes, what they do in the off-season and how conditioned they are by the end of their pre-season determines how well their season will be.
During off-season and pre-season training I'm willing to work with anyone because the pressure of competing and hitting certain numbers won't exist, so we can focus on conditioning and understanding form and technique.
During the season I prefer to work with athletes who have little to no knowledge of throwing and has goals to better understand what to do rather than a goal of winning meets. Having to unlearn or break bad habits takes longer than people realize and 1-2 practices weekly over a 3 month season isn't a realistic timeline for most athletes to fix their form.
I'm very drill specific. I break down the throw so we can pinpoint as many issues as possible. Actual throwing equipment won't be used in the beginning so we can focus more on technique.

Coach Adam was patient and took the time for my daughter to undo bad habits and re-learn how to throw the discus. We are looking forward to seeing her improvement in upcoming track meets and will continue to use Coach A for more lessons.

Coach Adam is wonderful he has alot if patience. He really cares and try to build a relationship with his athletes. My daughter actually truly shy when she's talking to coach it let me know a lot about his character. He does a great job out there in the heat. She is glad we found coach Adam to help her build confidence and believe in herself. I love the fact he know what he doing when it come to techniques.

Akeem Samuels (Testimonial)
Coach Adam became the coach of the throwers my senior year. The year prior we were teammates. Honestly, my expectations weren't high at first but then I started to notice how much I was improving and how much stronger I was getting. Thanks to him I'm in the record books as Alabama A&Ms 1st SWAC champion in weight throw (17.19m, hammer throw (51.39m), and discus(46.79). If I would have stayed for another year I believe I could have qualified for outdoor regionals and indoor nationals, which would have been another first from AAMU by a thrower. He's very patient and is a technical coach. He's left handed but breaks down drills for righties which amazed me. We worked on drills a lot, more than we did full throws. My teammates marks drastically improved as well. The multi-event athletes had no prior throwing knowledge and he was able to have them throw as far as the women in the open shot. He's very motivational and can make you feel like you're going to win even if you won't. He's proof that age does not define wisdom. He might be young but he has enough knowledge to hold his own with the older coaches.
