More About Coach Zanora

Greetings! I am Coach Z, and welcome to my track and field coaching platform. I am a USATF Level 2 and NFHS Level 3 certified/registered track and field coach with youth specializations in sprints, jumps, hurdles, relays, throws, and cross country. I also have specialized training and certification in sport psychology, nutrition, strength, conditioning, and injury prevention. I maintain certifications in CPR/First Aid and group fitness certification with the International Sports Science Association (ISSA). I bring athletes age-appropriate, technically sound, and progressive training to reach their fitness and competitive goals from the inside out.

I served as Caravel Academy’s middle school track & field head coach for the past 8 years, and after my 2025 retirement, I still serve as a DIAA track and field official and private coach for amateur and emerging elite youth. My training approach combines traditional skill-building with mindfulness techniques to complement physical and mental conditioning that enhances overall health, strategic performance, and mitigates sports and life-related performance stress. My event expertise is in hurdles, sprints, relays, horizontal jumps, mid-distance, cross-country, and throws. My training strengths are workout development, strength, conditioning, and injury prevention. Sessions consist of warm-up, static and dynamic stretching, agility and balance drills (plyometric drills, skips, bounding, wind sprints, Frankenstein's, etc.), tailored workout, cool down, and stretch. My focus is improvement of speed, agility, explosiveness, endurance, improved function of energy systems in the body, mental endurance, and flexibility. I do not train events, I train athletes, so I deal with the person from the level of mind, body, and spirit, so that the benefits they obtain may be applied to those areas as well.
