More About Coach Will
I have been formally coaching runners for 2 years. My services can be geared toward:
-Beginners to the sport / need help getting started
-Those have tried to train themselves but would benefit from an experienced coach or just need the added accountability of having another person involved in their training
-Competitive runners who feel stagnant with their current program
I have informally coached a handful of runners on my local club for several years, acting as a resource for training approaches, race strategy, and workout leader. This has helped them PR across various ability levels.
I have also coached myself for the last 10 years.
I hold a Level 1 coaching certification with the Road Runners Club of American. I am also CPR and First Aid certified.
Competitive runner through high school, college, and post-college/working professional
Personal bests include:
Mile- 4:17
5000m- 14:58
Half Marathon- 1:09
Marathon- 2:26
I have run 15+ marathons, including Boston, New York, and Berlin, as well as countless half marathons around the USA and internationally.
Winner of many competitive or college-field races while racing as a self-coached post-collegiate.
Per monthly plan or race cycle, you can expect a weekly set of instructions on the week ahead, including:
-Weekly mileage
-Daily mileage, including scheduled recovery days or cross training
-twice week workouts (track repeats or intervals, tempo running, fartleks, hill work). This can be fewer if the athlete is not in shape for this intensity
-warm-up or cool-down instructions, including stretching or drills if desired
-Strategy for upcoming race
Available as desired for text messaging/email questions, as well as a weekly phone debrief or zoom call

Client Reviews
Tyler (CoachUp client)
Coach Will is the real deal. He knows what he is talking about. Tell him the details and report to him and he will proscribe steps for progression for you or your youth that are easy to follow.
Julie (CoachUp client)
Coach Will was great helping my daughter prepare for a cross country meet. He taught her a lot and she had fun!
Amir (CoachUp client)
I had the pleasure of working with Coach Will for the past seven months and truly enjoyed the experience of programming my runs with him.
I initially sought him out for more customized running plans and to overcome recurring issues like shin splints and knee pain, all while staying on track with my running goals.
In hindsight, I wish I had been more consistent and made better use of the opportunity to have more phone calls with him—I know I would have gained even more from our sessions.
I only stopped because my focus has shifted towards military and hybrid training. But for anyone focused purely on running, I wholeheartedly recommend Coach Will.
Jay (CoachUp client)
Coach Will is taking the time to get to know my ability slowly and breaking down the sessions so I avoid injury on the way to meeting my goal. Keeping me solidly on track by weekly reviews of my times
Stephen (Testimonial)
After a few years of keeping running on the back burner after a long high school and college career, I decided to give it another shot. After a few discussions with Will, I decided to go with his program, and he has been the perfect coach for me. He is extremely adaptable to your schedule, takes your opinions into account, and is always timely with communication. I ended up setting PRs in the mile, half, and marathon under his training, and most importantly, found the joy in running that I had lost since graduating college.
