More About Coach Umar
I have over six years of football coaching experience across various skill levels, spanning from middle school to varsity high school programs. I began my career in Knoxville, Tennessee, at Powell High School, where I served as an eighth-grade offensive coordinator, a 7-on-7 head coach, and a varsity defensive backs coach. After moving to Colorado, I spent two years at Standley Lake High School as the varsity wide receivers coach, strength and conditioning coordinator (designing the entire off-season program), and ultimately the Offensive Coordinator. I am currently a varsity coach at Denver North High School. I typically work with athletes aged 12 to 18, specializing in positional development, structural strength, and explosive mechanics.
Born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, I built a strong athletic foundation playing at West High School, a premier football program where I earned All-Region honors as a wide receiver while playing both ways at defensive back and receiver. My performance earned me the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level. I played wide receiver at Lindsey Wilson College, where I successfully balanced the high demands of a collegiate football program and graduated in December 2019. This firsthand experience playing at a collegiate level allows me to understand exactly what it takes for young athletes to transition from high school to college athletics.
A typical 1-on-1 session with me is highly structured, intense, and heavily focused on attention to detail. We begin with a comprehensive dynamic warm-up that prioritizes hip mobility and activation, laying the groundwork for explosive body mechanics. From there, we transition into high-repetition, position-specific drills—focusing heavily on footwork, route running, defensive coverage logic, or quarterback/receiver cohesion depending on the athlete's goals. I treat every rep as a building block for self-assurance. Clients can expect a positive, high-energy environment where they have the freedom to make mistakes, play creatively, and build the physical and mental confidence needed to dominate on game day.
