More About Coach Tyson
I have both played and coached basketball all my life. I have been around top pro’s, Collegiate, High school elite, and youth basketball players as well.
I have coached for over 10 years recently coaching the Lake Oswego Youth 6th Graders team in 2023 recently headed by Marshall Cho.
I also coached a high school team travel team in Tualatin
I also coached a youth team in Barcelona, Spain.
I also coached several teams in Massachusetts, Oregon, and traveled to various tournaments and games in these areas.
My players always improve because they want to firstly.
Beat the #1 and #3 ranked teams in DIII in 2014 playing and starting for Emerson College as a lead guard. Led program to first playoff victory in the NEWMAC (elite D3 level) in history. Lost in NEWMAC semifinal to eventual NCAA DIII 2016-2017 champions Babson College. Played for 2 former NBA & ABA players as my head and assistant coaches in College Jim O’Brien & Bill Curely.
We will always cover shooting, dribbling, ball handling, passing, reading the defense, counters. Proper form, proper shooting motion mechanics. Proper free Throw approach. Defensive slides, defensive rotations, defensive coverages. In game calls, screen offense and defense, one on one attack series, transition finishes. Will also utilize video analysis, physical training and conditioning. Jumping, stretching, and Plyometrics.

Success is in the details and the approach we have to day in day out growth. Basketball has a rhythm to it, there is an ebb and flow to the game you have to be able to read on your own and react in real time, but you cannot do it without your teammates engaged.
