More About Coach Tyreek
I’ve coached strength and conditioning for youth, high school, and aspiring collegiate athletes, with a focus on building explosive power, speed-strength, and movement efficiency. My background as an Olympic bobsledder and former football player gives me a unique approach to developing total-body athleticism and position-specific power. I’ve worked primarily with athletes ages 13–18, helping them improve strength, stability, and speed through progressive resistance training, functional movement, and bodyweight control. Sessions are adapted to each athlete’s sport and season. While I don’t hold a formal certification, my experience at the Olympic and collegiate level informs every program I design.
As a collegiate football player and Olympic bobsledder, I trained under elite-level strength and performance systems that emphasized explosive power, max effort lifts, and sport-specific movement. My experience includes intensive strength development for starts, acceleration, and full-body control, which translated into my transition to the Jamaican National Bobsled Team. Competing at the international level, I trained alongside world-class athletes, gaining firsthand experience in powerlifting, Olympic lifting, sled work, and functional strength protocols — all of which now shape how I build strength programs for athletes.
A typical strength and conditioning session with me is built around explosiveness, movement quality, and sport-specific strength. We start with a thorough dynamic warm-up and mobility work, then move into activation drills to fire up the posterior chain. The core of the session includes compound lifts (e.g., squats, deadlifts, or cleans), contrast or plyometric movements (e.g., box jumps, sled pushes), and corrective or stability work. I tailor the session to the athlete’s sport, position, and level — whether it’s power for football, explosiveness for bobsled, or foundational strength for younger athletes. We finish with core work, mobility, and recovery techniques.
