More About Coach Tyler

Coaching Experience & Background -
I have over a decade of experience coaching athletes across multiple levels, including high school, collegiate, and post-collegiate competition. My work is centered around developing speed, strength, and overall athletic performance.

Current Role -
I currently serve as the Head Coach for Boyertown High School, where I lead training for track and field athletes and help them compete at a high level.

Age Groups-
I typically work with athletes aged 13 and up, tailoring training to meet the developmental and competitive needs of each individual.

Certifications -
USATF Level 2 – Specializing in sprints, hurdles, and relays
USA Weightlifting Level 1 – Emphasizing proper technique and strength development

Coaching Philosophy -
My approach focuses on combining smart, efficient training with technical precision to help athletes achieve peak performance while minimizing unnecessary fatigue. I believe in building a strong foundation through individualized programming, ensuring long-term development and success.

I wasn’t a standout athlete in high school, I wasn’t particularly fast, and I wasn’t heavily recruited, but that experience sparked my passion for understanding athletic development. I wanted to learn everything I could to help athletes become the best versions of themselves, something I felt I missed out on at that age. As the son of a coach, I grew up immersed in the world of sports, which shaped my philosophy and drive. I played soccer for two years at the junior college level and continued competing through club soccer at a state school. While I didn’t compete professionally, those years gave me firsthand insight into the demands of sport and the value of effective, individualized training. My coaching career has been built not on personal athletic accolades but on studying what truly works, using science-based methods and practical experience to help athletes at all levels reach their goals.

A typical session with me is highly focused, efficient, and tailored to the athlete’s specific needs and goals. I start with a thorough warm-up designed to activate the nervous system, improve mobility, and prepare the body for high-quality movement. From there, we move into technical work—this could include sprint mechanics, acceleration drills, change-of-direction skills, or jump technique, depending on the athlete’s sport and development plan. I use proven methods and tools like resisted sprints, plyometrics, and Olympic lifting progressions to build speed, power, and coordination. Each session is structured with intention: I don’t believe in wasted reps or generic programming. We finish with cool down and recovery strategies to support long-term progress and reduce injury risk. My goal is for every athlete to leave the session feeling challenged, more technically sound, and one step closer to their peak potential.

1. Activation & Movement Prep (25-45 minutes)
Dynamic warm-up (mobility + flexibility drills)
Activation (mini-bands, med ball, or light plyos)
Sprint drills (A-skips, B-skips, high knees, wall drills)
Technical cueing for proper posture, rhythm, and mechanics

2. Speed or Power Development (25 - 45 minutes)
Acceleration drills (sled pushes, hill sprints, falling starts)
Max velocity work (fly sprints, wickets, bounding)
Change of direction/reactive drills (cones, reaction lights)
Short rest to maintain high quality output

3. Cooldown & Recovery (5–10 minutes)
Static stretching or mobility flows
Breathing work or guided recovery protocols
Post-session feedback and goal setting

Client Reviews

Before I started training with coach Zellers, I was fast but I wasn’t reaching my full potential. Coach Tyler helped break down my sprint mechanics, clean up my start, and really push my strength and speed to the next level. After a few months, I not only PR’d, I ended up medaling at states. If you’re a sprinter looking to compete at a higher level, this is where you need to be.
Training with coach Zellers has seriously leveled me up. The coaches know their stuff and actually care about helping you improve. Every session is different, challenging, and fun. I feel faster, stronger, and way more confident in my game. Super glad I found this place.
