More About Coach Tyler
As a NASM-certified personal trainer and UESCA-certified running coach, I specialize in endurance training for youth athletes. I founded Tectonic Running to help young athletes maximize their cross-country and endurance potential. My background in school psychology provides a unique perspective on adolescent development, allowing me to mentor athletes both physically and mentally. I focus on building sustainable habits that help young runners excel in competitive school environments.
My competitive experience is rooted in long-distance endurance and technical trail running. As a master's athlete, I have completed the Kodiak 100-mile ultramarathon (top 30), run a sub-3-hour marathon, and placed in the top five of my age group in competitive 100K races. I specialize in endurance projects that push limits while prioritizing the long-term health and structural integrity of the athlete.
A typical session begins with a dynamic warm-up and mobility drills specifically tailored to the needs of growing runners. We then move into sport-specific work, such as hill repeats, interval training, or technical trail runs, depending on the athlete's current goals. I emphasize proper running mechanics and pacing strategies to build efficiency and prevent injury. Every workout concludes with a cool-down and a brief discussion on mental grit and recovery, ensuring athletes leave with a clear plan for progress.
