More About Coach Traci
I have been in the fitness industry since 1999. I have worked with athletes ranging from middle school to professional. I enjoy working with athletes of ALL sports but have personal experience coaching High School VB and Girls' Basketball along with D3 Women's VB. I am currently a Certified Functional Strength Coach (CFSC) through Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning (MBSC). I have done an internship with ISU working with Gymnastics, FB, Basketball, and Softball. I also completed an internship at MBSC working with middle school athletes up to the Professional level and adults.
While in High School, I competed in VB, Basketball, SB and Track. I was also part of the CIGS softball league (travel SB). At Carthage College, I played 1.5 years of SB.
All training sessions last 1 hour minimum. I focus on Flexibility, Strength, Power, Speed, Agility, and Conditioning. There are many components to each and the importance of them depends on the athlete and their sport/position. I run my sessions on a program designed approach so my clients can reach their goals.

Heather Ball/Mom (Testimonial)
Traci Friel is the one person I trust the most with everything fitness and nutrition. Some days I have experienced discouraging moments. Traci is a great motivational trainer and coach. I LOVE spin chaos and love the uniqueness of the workout. It is very tiring, but I find it is that extra push I need. During spin chaos, Traci lead 20 minutes of spin then 20 minutes of off-bike exercises in the gym and another 20 minutes on the bike. The workout is the BEST; I miss that class. I know I can come to Traci with any/all of my questions about health. In October of 2013 Traci taught a circuit training class that met at Fairview park. This class challenged me so much. It helped me to see where I was lacking too; I would see others attending the class who could do most things easier than I could. I feel it pushed me to work harder, much harder than I would have doing my workouts solo. I am thankful for Traci. Thank you, Traci Friel for helping me achieve goals I never knew I needed or wanted.
Beth Bachtold (Testimonial)
Traci's classes provide skilled guidance and feedback with keen attention to form. She pays close attention to her participants' workouts and makes sure that the experience is about their improvement, and not about her. I have taken a variety of classes from Traci over the past five years, and I know I can always count on a great workout whether it's group cycling, TRX, weight training or a unique combination! Traci provides consistent positive feedback as well as solid instruction on form and follow-through. I go to Traci's classes because they are creative and inspire me to keep improving; I never feel stagnant, stuck or bored! Traci has a wealth of knowledge and experience when it comes to training, and it shows through her creative and challenging classes, as well as her consistent, encouraging feedback.
Audrey Krajec/Nurse (Testimonial)
I have known Traci for about three years and she has helped me to get in the best physical shape I have ever been in while working with her. As a collegiate athlete, Traci helped me improve my speed and gain strength in which both have helped me to be successful on the volleyball court. She was able to customize each session so that it would help me with my volleyball skills and strength. Traci challenged as well as watched my form closely (to make sure I did the exercise correctly and thoroughly) in each session that she worked with me. She pushed me and motivated me to be the best that I could be with every single rep. She helped me in so many ways, and I am so glad that I have had many opportunities to work with her. I highly recommend Traci as a personal trainer to anyone that is interested in getting in shape!
Julie and John Peters/Nurse (Testimonial)
Traci, I have been wanting to write a note to let you know how much John and I love attending your SPIN classes! We were at point of getting bored with the same ole thing and another DAC member recommended we try "SPIN" and try to sign up when you were teaching. At first, we kinda laughed and thought those people wear those funny looking shorts and are addicts! LOL!! Well, guess what? We tried it and we loved it! We started to mix it up and our first class with YOU was on July 4th. It was honestly the BEST class we have ever attended at DAC! If you recall, your entire playlist was patriotic music and it was not ballads, it was SO cool! After class you treated us to a strawberry dipped in blue icing (see we remembered)! Since then we try to come to your class whenever our work schedules permit. You provide an intense workout with variety an GREAT music. Thank you for pushing us and being such an inspiration. We really do appreciate it. Please keep us posted if you are planning to do any other things besides Spin because it is instructors like YOU that keep us motivated and coming back for more! Your followers and Kind of Spinning addicts now LOL Julie and John Peters P.S. Also, we are both mid 50's and have never felt better!
Dana Yokley/Hair Stylist (Testimonial)
I have taken various classes with Traci. I really enjoy her classes because she challenges me and changes things up. Which is important for me not to get burnt out. I enjoy her classes so much that I also have taken her personal sessions as well. She is very good at her job and definitely pushes me.
Miranda Korte/Recent Millikin Graduate (Testimonial)
Traci Friel is and was a well-respected and talented strength and conditioning coach at Millikin University. Traci’s workouts have been some of the most beneficial and challenging workouts I’ve ever done. At times I wanted to give up, yes, but I knew if I stuck it out I would see the results I wanted. And I did. By having Traci as Millikin’s Volleyball strength and conditioning coach, I can honestly say that I was in the best shape I’ve ever been in. She challenged not only me, but also the whole volleyball team to be better, faster, and stronger athletes. And because of her, we were. She knew what we needed to improve on and she created very specific workouts to target our weak areas and enhance our strengths. Traci’s passion, knowledge, encouragement, and talent as a strength and conditioning coach can be attributed to the success of Millikin’s Volleyball team and also to my well-being. So, push through whatever is holding you back because Traci is extremely talented and can help you achieve the goal you wish to attain.
Linda Fahey/DMH Chief Nurse (Testimonial)
I have had the privilege to workout with Tracy Friel as my trainer for several years. She approaches every workout and class with an enthusiasm that is contagious, but also with the expertise that comes from a master’s prepared strength and conditioning perspective. Tracy listens to your goals and designs creative programs to help you meet those goals while preventing injury. In my case, at 60 years old, that is an important combination to bring to a workout. I think it is also important that Tracy is recognized for her ability to look at business potential in this field. She knows how to design courses that keep people engaged. As a result, Tracy Friel has quite a following in Decatur. Her clients, both individuals and groups, are willing to follow her to whatever venue she chooses. A fitness program whose leadership recognizes this and helps Tracy achieve her full potential will surely benefit as well. I highly recommend her as you design the future for an active and healthy community. Linda L. Fahey Nurse, Grandmother, and Hospital Executive
