More About Coach Tom

I have been coaching individuals and groups in fitness since 1989. While serving on active duty in the Marine Corps and the U.S. Army, I was responsible for the physical fitness of my subordinates. Since that time, I have taught classes at the local YMCA and independently. My age, experience and advanced degrees have prepared me to coach at all age and ability levels. My focus is Fitness! Not the latest Fad in the fitness industry. I'm able to provide Training Analysis, Consultation/Coaching for adults and Support Mentor for teens.

I can often be seen in the early morning hours on my running route. I oversee an alternative PE class after school one day a week, I supervise the Fitness Center at our local high school 5 mornings a week and 2 evenings a week. In fitness training, I focus on overall fitness, including cardio-vascular fitness as well as strength training to provide a well rounded program. My focus is in coaching a group, my goal is a supportive environment of camaraderie, so that all members feel challenged and included in the fitness process. I enjoy helping people one-on-one, but small groups (4-10 participants). That is where I excel!

Understanding my client's goals is my first priority. Every client starts with a Fitness Assessment. The sessions in the first 2 weeks are a continuation of the Assessment and are used to adjust the intensity and volume of the workout. Goals and progress are assessed and adjusted at regular intervals. In small group sessions, each client is periodically assessed to measure progress toward their personal goals. Emphasis is on a broad and well rounded approach to fitness. I love training out of doors or we can meet at your home or apartment, I'll bring the equipment. Using local facilities is also an option. Wherever you feel most comfortable, I can provide the fitness training for you and your friends. I keep my groups small, so that the individual goals don't get "lost in the shuffle".
