More About Coach Thomas

I was always drawn to coaching at a young age, always wanting to help my teammates get better. At 18 while in college, I began coaching soccer for a local travel team. I began working with kids as little as age 4, teaching them the technical aspects of soccer. In college I studied exercise physiology and worked as an assistant Strength Coach at LIU working with my teammates and other athletes on campus getting them ready for their seasons. I eventually went on to receive my Masters degree in Exercise Science, with concentrations in strength and conditioning and sports nutrition. I am currently certified through National Academy of Sports Medicine, as a Performance Enhancement Specialist, as well as a Corrective Exercise Specialist. I also hold a National "D" license through the United States Soccer Federation.

I currently work as the Kings College Men's and Women's Soccer Strength and Conditioning coach and Director of Sports Performance at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

I have been fortunate enough to play soccer from a young age. Playing on many select, travel teams I always wanted to take my skill to the next level. In high school I was introduced to the sport of track and field. It first started as a way to stay in shape for the soccer season, however, I became drawn to the sport wanting to excel at it. On the soccer field I was able to help my high school, St. Joseph by the Sea, complete the 2007 season undefeated, while my senior year in 2008 winning the CHSAA championships. In college, I attended LIU Brooklyn and became a member of the 2009-2010 Men's Soccer team.

In a typical session I always begin with a dynamic warm-up. During that time we will also focus on doing some injury prevention exercises and stretching. Once the athlete feels ready to begin the session we will complete the session. Depending on the clients goals, session may vary whether it is a strength and conditioning session or a sports session. Once the session is complete we will go through a cool down in which the client will receive an overview of his/her performance.
