More About Coach Thomas

I recently retired from the NFL and in the fall of 2015 I coached 1 season of American Youth Football at the Cadet level for the Vallejo Jr. Jaguars. I was the teams Defensive Coordinator and DB/LB Coach and the team finished with a 7-2 record. During my 7 year playing career I would always try to soak up as much knowledge that my strength coaches, position coaches, coordinators, teammates and colleagues had to offer. This bestowed me with a infinite amount of information to then give to my athletes. I am a NESTA Certified Personal Fitness Trainer and am currently working on several other fitness certifications. (ACE, NASM, Kettlebells, TRX, etc) My training philosophy involves teaching my athletes not only what it takes to excel in football on the field, but also what the life of being a collegiate or professional football player entails off the field. My training philosophy also involves both "Teaching by Example" and verbal instruction. Having played at the highest level of competition and competing at a high level, allow me to SHOW my athletes the "correct" or "most efficient" way the skill or technique should be executed. These areas are where I think my training will differ from others and where my accumulated expertise will play a huge role.

Each session can encompass 1 of 3 areas of focus, or any combination of the three.
These areas are:
1. Core strength, Balance, Explosiveness, Acceleration & Deceleration. (Translates to Change of Direction)
2. Footwork, Position-specific Agility, Skills & Techniques, "Understanding the Game". (Expanding comprehension of the game of football)
3. Hand Eye Coordination, Reaction Time.
In each area of focus I have literally hundreds of drills and exercises, with varying progressions of difficulty to maximize your performance on the field.
- 10 to 15 minute warmup including Dynamic Stretch routine and Core Activation/Injury Prevention. (Core Activation/Injury Prevention are Athlete Specific)
- 1 hour of exercises and drill work based on selected concentration(s). (Concentrations listed above)
- 10 to 15 minute Cool Down Stretch/Chalk Talk/"Athlete" Life Lessons.
- Expect to be often "Taught by example". I believe seeing it done the right way while also listening to instruction is paramount to athletic development.
- I will be your QB during ball skill drills and position specific drills and also "give you a look" during drills that do not necessarily involve a ball.

Thomas is an amazing coach/trainer!! My son is playing his first season of football and Thomas is making him so much better! Great challenges great training great personality!! You are lucky is you get to work with him!

Coach Thomas was able to some footwork drills for my son that we will incorporate in some of his daily routines. He also worked on exercises to help with off the line explosiveness. I recommend Coach Thomas and look forward to our next workout.

You want the best, someone who knows what it takes that has walked and model the way! Then you want coach DeCoud.

Coach DeCoud is an outstanding coach who brings his expansive football knowledge to every session along with a plethora of drills that each help you improve as an athlete. Each session is designed to help you improve in different facets of the game and all the sessions combine to make you a better athlete altogether. What really sets Coach DeCoud apart is the wisdom he brings to each session. The ability to mentor is perhaps the most underrated aspect of a Coach, but the most important for young athletes. Coach DeCoud is an incredible mentor who will help you explore lessons often bigger than just drills, that make you a wiser athlete and person. He will push you to be the best you can be, but do so in a way that makes you a better athlete because of his exceptional ability to mentor. In my case, I rehabbed a slipped disc in my lower back, but needed extra work reach pre injury form. Through Coach DeCoud's training, I was able to become a better athlete than ever. 5 stars is underrating this coach, because he took me from an injured athlete with minimal athletic self confidence to a confident individual and a player better than ever. Few coaches are capable of doing what he has done for me, so for those looking for an incredible coach and even better mentor regardless of football position this is 100%, the right and easy choice.

Great coach. Knows his craft, for sure breaks down every detail of workouts. Won't be sorry. Definitely rebooking

If your looking for someone who's competed at the highest level then Coach Thomas is your man. He put my son through very specific agility drills that he could duplicate at home in order to improve his footwork. Coach Thomas brings what he's learned in the Pac 12 and in the NFL to his coaching sessions. I believe these subtle nuances of the game are great assets to any athlete trying to elevate their game and rise above the competition.
