More About Coach Taylor
I am a USA Track & Field Level 1 Certified Coach. Since graduating from Ohio State in 2010, I have coached cross country and track the last 3 years at a Division II/III private girls high school. I am currently the Head Cross Country Coach and Assistant Track Coach. In all 3 years I have had at least one athlete achieve 1st Team All-State. I have coached 2 cross country athletes to a Top 20 finish in the State Championship, with PR times of 19:16 and 19:27. I have coached 4 track athletes to a Top 8 finish in the State Championship in their event, including the Mile, 800, and 4x800. Top times for athletes I’ve coached in the Mile and 800 are 5:06 and 2:17.
For private sessions I enjoy working with runners of all ages, both male and female. You wont “just go for a run”. I will develop a training program specifically for you, whether you have the goal of running a certain time for a particular distance, or you simply just want to get in better shape. I also will do some, if not all, of the workout with you, if you’d like. I believe it is easier to workout with somebody pushing you rather than doing it all by yourself. I also involve core and strength training into some sessions. To be a good runner, you must have a strong core. I look forward to working with you!
As a runner, in high school I was a 2-time 1st Team All-Ohio athlete in track. I was then blessed with the opportunity to compete for the Ohio State Buckeyes in college. In 2006 I was the lead off runner of the Distance Medley Relay who won a Big Ten Championship, while breaking Ohio State’s school record in the event at the same time. My personal best in the mile (my specialty in track) is 4:07, and in the 800 I ran 1:54. I was a captain of the Buckeye cross country team my senior year, and was a 4-time Academic All-Big Ten award winner.
A typical session with me includes a dynamic warm-up, including hurdle mobility drills, followed by our workout for the day, and ending with a good stretch routine and potentially some strength and core work if time permits. I develop workouts custom to you, that include tempo training, interval training, fartlek runs, hill repeats, and much more.

Coach Taylor was phenomenal!!! He was able to assess my child's form and how to improve it in the very first session. We look forward to a very exciting 2 years in both cross country and track.

I've met with him a couple of times and both times walked away feeling good and challenged. He has lots of knowledge he's willing to share without making you feel lost in the sauce. He's timely, accommodating, personable and stays on track as well as being non-judgmental and non-intimidating. I have nothing bad to say.

So far my experience with Coach Taylor has exceeded my expectations! He is always on time, very knowledgeable, and fun to work with. With 9 weeks until my next race I'm overly confident that working with Coach Taylor will help me hit my PR at my 1st race of the season!

I contacted Coach Taylor to help me with my running form after passing a fitness test for a federal academy. I barely made the minimum run time prior to my sessions with him. I only got 3 sessions with him before departing for the academy training, but just using the advice and training he gave me in those sessions, I've cut 1:11 off my run time (a significant number, since it's been less than a month since I took that fitness test) and my shin splints aren't nearly as bad as they once were. I highly recommend Coach Taylor to anyone who wants to get better at running or into better shape, and specifically to those who hate running and want to know what it's like to not hate it so much. Coach Taylor knows his stuff.

Excellent coach, very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. He pointed out flaws in my form that we have been working on and I have seen almost immediate improvements in my times. Really enjoy working with him.

Coach Taylor is an awesome coach, extremely knowledgable and great if you are a beginner just starting out or an experienced runner looking for a new PR!

Coach Taylor has been working with my preteen twin daughters on correct running form. He has developed a great rapport with them both, motivates them to improve and each say their fitness level is being challenged. Both girls look forward to his sessions and I look forward to seeing how they continue to develop as runners.

Coach Taylor was there on time and very friendly! He definitely knew what he was talking about and will be a great help.

Coach Taylor was early for the session and ready to start developing my daughter for her upcoming track season. While being interested in her form while running, he stressed the need for her to develop her Core muscles which will help to keep her form tight and compact while other runners tend to get sloppy when getting tired due to not developing their core. My daughter appreciated his insight on running and how he related what they were doing in the session to a reason for doing it while she continues to develop as a runner. They seem to hit it off very well and she was very happy after the sessions with the workout.

I have had such a positive experience over the last 3 years working with this coach. His energy and enthusiasm for the sport are apparent, making practices fun. Having been a Big Ten athlete, Coach Candella is extremely driven, motivating his athletes to reach their full potential. His workouts help build strength and endurance. For me, Coach Candella helped most by training with us, helping to push our pace, especially on longer distance and tempo runs. His experience with the sport allows him to deeply connect with his athletes, helping to work with them as a coach and a friend.
