More About Coach Steven

I started my coaching experience as a collegiate intern for the cross country team I was a part of. Upon graduating I coached my first team which was elementary-middle school, did great there and was invited to coach at my high school alma mater which is also in Miami, FL., so while I coached track and field on the high school level I still worked with the college cross country team. I typically work with youth athletes up to college athletes (8-22), my experience stems from URJ sleep away camps where worked with all ages as a sports specialist during the summers, AAU summer track and field as well as college coaching experience. I obtained my USTFCCCA certificate in level 1 technical coaching and program and meet management as well as a bachelors and masters degree in sport administration.

My biggest accomplishment athletically was being most improved, having the least experience in cross country I still ran one of the teams fastest times in my freshman year of collegiate cross country.

A typical session with me is filled with education, they will know why they are doing what they are doing. I tend to focus on mechanics and posture because those things help injury prevention. I also focus on race strategy and speed endurance.

A work out work me will consist of:
uptempo warm up lap,
4 static stretches,
another warm up lap
dynamic stretches and drills.
2 sets of 5 x 50m runs
(One set acceleration
Second set fast strides)
Walk back recovery
10m recovery between sets
Physical fitness
(Core, jumps, push ups, shoulders)
2 Cool down laps
Stretch

Client Reviews

Coach Steven is excellent. He’s willing to travel in order to train our son, and always has a cheerful attitude. Because he’s also a teacher, he makes certain to explain the technical fundamentals of what he is training our son to do, and why. A very refreshing approach to coaching.

Thank you for believing in me coach, I was about to quit track and go to soccer before you coached. I enjoy the way you keep it interesting because I lose interest in things fast, also I appreciate you for getting me to junior olympics as the projected winner, although I got injured. That season is still the best season I’ve had in any sport so far, I not only qualified for junior olympics but I went and placed top 15 with an injury. That year was my first year actually going to junior olympics because my parents believed in your coaching and my results enough to take me. I appreciate you coach and I hope you keep motivating athletes at FSG Athletics and beyond.
