More About Coach Shelley
I hold certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS), the American College of Sports Medicine (CPT) and the Titleist Performance Institute (Golf Fitness).
After working directly with various sports teams including the Broward County Derby Grrls, the Gold Coast Derby Grrls, the Miami Fury (football) and their individual athletes over the past decade, I opened FitLAB Performance Systems earlier this year to make my services available to those looking to improve their sports performance outside of a team setting. I am currently working with adult roller derby players, adult and junior rugby players, adult and junior hockey players and golfers at all ages.
The bottom line is: I help make people stronger, faster and fitter, and I can help you too.
I’ve been involved in athletics for more than 20 years, first as an athlete (basketball, softball, roller derby and American football) at the high school, college and semi-pro levels and afterwards as a strength and conditioning coach. Sports performance is my passion and I remain extremely active and involved in all sorts of sports, from golf to kitesurfing.
Golf Fitness
In any sport, physical limitations in an athlete’s body can adversely affect performance and lead to injury. This is particularly true in a sport which requires as much mobility, strength, flexibility, power and explosiveness as golf. Having a properly functioning body allows a player to swing a golf club in the most efficient way possible and a properly designed strength and conditioning program can both improve your golf game and help prevent injury. Unlike most athletic performance facilities, personal trainers and strength coaches, I offers specialized individual strength, conditioning and mobility programs designed just for golf either at my location in downtown Fort Lauderdale or at your course or home.
FitLAB Performance Systems Golf Fitness Program begins with a comprehensive player assessment based upon protocols designed by the Titleist Performance Institute. The assessment includes player history, a 3D computerized swing/movement analysis and a detailed, hands-on physical screening performed by a Titleist Performance Institute certified strength and conditioning coach. That information is then shared with the athlete, as well as their golf coach (if applicable) and utilized to design a strength, conditioning and mobility program based upon the athlete's physical abilities and swing characteristics. Each golf fitness program is designed to meet the unique demands of each player with an eye on improving not only their golf game, but their quality of life as well.
Hockey and Roller Derby
Whether you aspire to be the baddest chick on 8 wheels or want to be the bane of the boards, FitLAB’s skate sport strength and conditioning programs can get you there. Everything from stride development and agility to power and mobility are covered in a strength and conditioning program specifically designed around the needs of the athlete.
Just like with all other FitLAB strength and conditioning programs, each player goes through a thorough evaluation, physical movement screen and strength and conditioning assessment before beginning training. The outcomes of these assessments are then used to develop a strength and conditioning program that is not only effective for that individual player, but also can help to prevent injury and have you performing at your best. Both the athlete's assessment and program details are made available to the athlete's sport coaches at all times regardless of playing level.

Client Reviews
Anna Irvine - personal training client (Testimonial)
Being guided by Shelley Murray, CSCS, during her Beauty of Strength program, I have finally lost the last stubborn weight, which I have not previously achieved before. I am the same weight as when I was competing in sport during my school years (24 years ago), but I am so much stronger now, and my body composition is different. I am excited for what my future training with Shelley can achieve.
Tara Gibbs - personal training client (Testimonial)
You will never get bored in Shelley's programs. Her workouts are scaled just right for every group member. Every week is a bit different, and every week is absolutely challenging. Challenging, but absolutely doable. You will learn to love Cosgrove's Evil 8 complex. You'll probably still hate burpees.
Jessica Velez - Roller Derby Jammer and Blocker, Gold Coast Derby Grrls (Testimonial)
Shelley and I played roller derby together and I started training with her toward the end of our first season. Since then I've had a couple of injuries which have sidelined me from time to time, but after getting cleared by my PT Shelley has helped me work on getting my strength and body composition back to where I want to be to keep me performing at my best.
Clarice Zayas (Testimonial)
I started training with Shelley my first year playing derby when she was our head coach. Since then I've continued to work with her to continue my goals of being a better jammer. She has helped me get stronger, faster and more powerful on the track and has helped me improve my body composition a lot during our time working together.
