More About Coach Shane

With my undergraduate background in exercise science and nutrition, along with my training in coaching and leadership and my vast work experience, I have been designed several strength and conditioning programs for sports including but not limited to, baseball, basketball, weightlifting, bodybuilding, and some football. I desire to be the best, most well rounded coach that can inspire excellence while maintaining a high level of integrity all while instilling the same level of values in those I coach.

Currently, I am enrolled in Masters of Human Nutrition at Eastern Michigan University. I believe many coaches/RD are good at program design or good at nutrition education, but seem to show a disconnect between the two. My goal is to round myself out while thinking creatively to be able to speak and educate the best of both worlds, especially as I see many athletes train hard but lack the discipline in their nutrition.

My experience includes nearly 10 years using nutrition coaching, personal training, corrective exercises, cooperate wellness, athletic coaching to athletes and individuals in setting including private in-home, private studios, chain gyms, middle/ high school athletics programs, and contest preps. My most recent exposures include nutrition and program design for Olympic lifters and bodybuilders.

I like to start programs with movement screening followed by corrective exercises as most sports requires skilled and repetitive motions that if are not taught correctly from the beginning tend to become injuries later on. Once an athlete is moving correctly then we begin specific goal oriented task working to developed needed skills and necessary accompanying strength and power to perform as such.
